Not much on today’s agenda.. 👀

Just a staredown with the local wildlife, a spot of sightseeing, a hike, and a slow stroll on the beach. As you were.

It was lovely showing Phil and dogdad round the place I grew up, a proper trip down memory lane. We hardly ever visit since it’s near Rotterdam, and we like our life a bit calmer and quieter than that 🤭

📝 Running on empty, and the art of slowing down..

In December, my panic attacks made a comeback after years of staying away. Not gently either, my whole life just stopped for a bit.

My therapist explained it like this: panic attacks usually happen when your nervous system has been completely overloaded, running on empty for way too long. Your battery’s drained, no warning light, no “10% left” notification. And once you’re there, your body pulls the emergency brake for you, whether you like it or not.

These past six months have been all about therapy, learning what my body’s actually trying to tell me, taking things slower, and figuring out how to not push through everything all the time. I’m still very much a work in progress, but it’s getting better. Slowly, and in a sustainable way.

A while back, an hour of doing anything meant I needed to rest after. Now there’s a bit more room to breathe, I can push my limits a little further before I hit the wall. And yeah, I still have rubbish days where I slip back a few steps. Annoying, every time. But these days teach me the most about myself, so I’ll take it.

This whole experience has made me appreciate the small things so much more. I still get a proper pang of FOMO watching everyone jet off on gorgeous holidays, because that’s just not where I’m at right now. But an evening out in nature with Phil and Mark hits different when I remember a few months ago, when even that felt impossible.

Going forward, I want to share more about my journey, the things I’m learning, the tools that actually help, the setbacks too. Not because I have it all figured out (I really don’t), but because I wish I’d seen more of this kind of honesty when I needed it most.
