“Death grip” on bench press — tighten up or chill out? 🏋🏽‍♂️

Pros:

* More upper body tension = stronger, more stable press
* Helps lock in wrist position (less wobble, more control)
* Better force transfer → can move heavier weight
* Engages forearms + lats for tighter setup

Cons:

* Burns out your grip/forearms faster than your chest
* Can create unnecessary tension → messes with bar path
* Not always needed for lighter or hypertrophy-focused sets

Risks:

* Over-gripping can strain wrists and elbows
* Increases blood pressure spikes (especially if you’re holding your breath)
* Can lead to early fatigue → form breakdown under heavy load

And with all the people creating dents in their chests due to losing the grip on the bar I’d suggest securing the bar with your thumbs 😂😭💔🫩

GYMS SHOULD BE 24 HOURS ‼️

Nothing builds discipline like a locked door at 4:59 pm 😭😂😂😂

You’re not a REAL athlete until you’ve experienced inferno Pilates 😂😂😂😂🤝

Yoga / Pilates , albeit two completely different forms of exercise will reveal every single bodily deficiency you have.

It’s a reminder that bench press doesn’t necessarily hold the most value when it comes to strength gauging. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
