Transform your mind & you will experience life changing results.

The physical results for @aldo_xo are evident to see, that’s a seriously impressive 14kg (2.5 stones) dropped in 10 weeks.

These extraordinary changes have come from the powerful and inspiring mindset that Chris has had throughout this process of working together.

As a small business owner, Chris is a busy man who has many stressful situatons to work through. In my opinion, it was the amazing reshaping of his relationship with stress that has been the catalyst for the physical changes you see.

Here’s some of the highlights that have contributed to his success,

🍻 Quit drinking for 8 weeks, completly transforming his relationship with alcohol.

✏️ Started journalling every morning, which has helped him stay connected to his reasons for going on this journey of lifestyle change as well as work through his stressors.

🗓️ Exercise and meal planning every sunday for the week ahead, which helped rekindle his love of cooking.

💪 Hit the gym 3 times per week following a strength program I designed for him and is now loving boxing classes.

🧠 Utilised some positive psychology techniques to reframe stressful situations in his mind.

📞 Was honest and vulnerable in our coaching conversations and always responded to the challenges and guidance I set for him.

😃 He’s now more present and engaged when with his loved ones and staff members.

💕 Another important result of this transformation has been the positive impact that Chris’ new lifestyle has had on those around him. Chris’ partner reached out to me a few weeks ago to thank me for supporting him and that she had noticed a big positive change in him. It’s vital that we remember the impact that our health and wellbeing has on other people so I loved this feedback.

All of these changes above are practical and achievable for anyone, you just need the right mindset and support.

If you’re ready ( not everyone is ) to make some lifestyle changes to positively transform your physical and mental health then reach out to learn more about my 1:1 coaching program. by @liftyourwellbeing

If we’re newly friends on here, my name is Kevin McAlister. I’ve been a Fitness & Wellbeing coach for 7 years.

Prior to that I was a Chartered Accountant working in a large firm ( more about that another time).

I live in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve been back home for a year after spending 6 amazing years living in London. But home is home.

I live with my partner Jess who is a Dietitian and our little dog red, who is the chief wellbeing officer of our family.

I love,

Soccer ( or football as my UK clients will remind me) Crystal Palace is my team.

Crazy cardio workouts that get me into a state of flow and I completely switch off from the usual day to day thought patterns and feel amazing afterwards

Self improvement books, it’s probably more an addiction at this stage. My top 3 this year have been The Joy of Movement, Seven and Half Lessons About The Brain and Atomic habits.

And if we haven’t spoken before…

Consider this an open invitation to drop me a message

And chat about your favourite English Premier League team, what books you’ve enjoyed this year or if you’d like some ideas for some crazy cardio workouts.

Or everything else really, as Jess will tell you, I LOVE to chat.

After all, social connection is the number one most important driver for your health.

How lucky are we?!?! Today the amazing @unna.movement is delivering a masterclass for one of our workplace wellbeing clients, Accommodation Association of Australia.

Unna will be exploring the concept of motivation. With activities around the roadblocks we encounter, breaking through resistance and how to get clear on when we are bull $hitting ourselves out of healthy decisions.

I’m delighted to have such a highly sought after exercise physiologist collaborating with Lift Your Wellbeing and I know our clients are going to find this masterclass really valuable.

Welcoming Kody Dallas McAlister, born on April 21st.

Jess and Kods are both really healthy and happy and we are loving settling into our new life at home, albeit sleep deprived.

It wouldn’t feel right to share our amazing news without acknowledging the years of infertility challenges we have been through. We hope that KD can provide some hope and strength for anyone else currently going through it.

Exercise improves energy and mood, it’s magic 🪄

It can be hard to take action when you’re feeling tired and low but if you can find the self talk required to get active, even if it’s just something small, then you will almost certainly feel better for it.

I’m still amazed ( and disappointed) that workplaces don’t do more to strongly promote regular exercise. Our daily classes often get labeled and promoted around ‘getting summer ready’ which is so far from the true value of exercise and movement.

But you can’t wait for others to change.

Find ways to get active regularly, make it social, make it fun and so many areas of your life will improve. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @liftyourwellbeing

How would you rate your health decisions during a really busy week?

With self compassion can you maintain a sense of wellbeing and still integrate the habits and mindset to lead a healthy lifestyle ? OR

Does the overwhelm and emotions take over and you find yourself making less than optimal decisions that work against your health goals?

P.S
@barbell_physiotherapy you’ve inspired me to record this video but you might have to give me some acting lessons mate 😂

I love my relationship with exercise and the gym these days.

I used to go to the gym for reasons linked to vanity and competitiveness. To try look a certain way and to lift heavier weights than other people. Thinking these outcomes would lead me to be happier and gain respect.

Maybe it comes with age or from my studies of psychology and wellbeing but these days I happily use exercise and the gym as a tool to deal with the challenges of modern life and to experience a sense of thriving.

Take today, I am starting my first uni psychology assignment so I went to the gym first thing this morning as I know from a neuroscience perspective, that the exercise will help me to focus and problem solve.

I also know that social connection is the most important aspect of supporting my mental health. So heading to @legacyhealthandperformance and chatting with the really nice people that train there is going to generate plenty of positive emotions for me.

Other times, I use exercise as a stress & emotional management tool. Whilst it would be nice easy to turn to alcohol or comfort food, I know that a good workout 🏋️‍♂️ will help me work through the challenges and build a healthy form of resilience.

It’s just me against myself these days and I love the state of flow I can get into when doing a challenging workout.

We all need to exercise, especially as we age. Our relationship and mindset towards it will determine how sustainable and enjoyable it is.

The gym might not be for you and that’s ok. There’s plenty of other movement based hobbies you could take up and do socially.

So I guess my message is to re-think your relationship with exercise and to use it as a tool to live a healthy and rewarding life.

What are the benefits of exercising with a friend?

1. Increased motivation: When you exercise with a friend, you can motivate and encourage each other to stick to your workout routine. Having a friend there can make exercising feel less like a chore and more like a fun social activity.
2. Accountability: When you make plans to exercise with a friend, you're more likely to stick to those plans because you don't want to let your
friend down. This can help you stay committed to your fitness goals.
3. Increased enjoyment: Exercising with a friend can make the experience more enjoyable, especially if you're doing an activity that you both enjoy. You can chat and catch up while getting your workout in.
4. Variety: Exercising with a friend can also expose you to different types of workouts or activities that you may not have considered otherwise.

Since moving back to Australia ( and post lockdowns) @mitch_willliams and I have been training together at least once a week, it’s always a sweat fest balanced with plenty of laughter and great chat.

If you’re looking to get fit, I’d highly recommend getting a friend involved with you on the journey taken in Somerville, Victoria, Australia by @liftyourwellbeing

I love it when my clients inspire me with their actions to implement the changes they desire, that will take them towards a healthier and happier version of themselves.

Developing new habits can be really hard. Especially when we are highly stressed, our brain easily falls back into old habits.

There’s great research that shows if you pre plan the WHAT & WHEN of your desired change, then you’re significantly more likely to achieve it. Couple that with a coach to keep you accountable and you’re looking good 👏

One my clients sent me this photo this morning, he has taken our Sunday planning document to the next level by making it A2, laminating it and putting it on the wall to refer to throughout the week once the busyness kicks in👏

I won’t the share the completed version but a big part of the Vigour & Joy approach is to sit down on a Sunday, map out your meals, workouts and any other lifestyle changes we are working on and to send me a photo so I can provide accountability and support.

These days I am a big believer that we need to take better ownership of our health and wellbeing.

This is an inspiring example of someone who is owning the change they want to experience and it’s a pleasure to guide them along that journey.

I had a bloody good week so I’m practicing the positive psychology strategy of savouring. A slow savouring run on a Friday evening 🏃‍♂️

Our brain has a negative bias, it’s been handy for learning and keeping us alive over the centuries but it’s not always great for our mental health in modern times.

The art and science of savouring is all about soaking in and sitting with, all the positive great things that you have experienced.

It’s a great way to end the week, focusing on ‘what’s right’ as opposed to what’s wrong.

Give it a go. Go for a walk or Sit on the beach or Sit with a cup of tea. And just reflect on the good things.

Pay attention to what this does to your emotions, thoughts and overall mood
