When I didn’t know what to do with my life, I picked up a camera. Little did I know that it would become my voice, allowing me to speak without words.

Drawing with light has become one of the most beautiful ways I know how to experience life.

Through the lens, the world opened up to me. I met people I might have never crossed paths with, traveled to places I might have never imagined visiting, and witnessed stories I might have never had the privilege of seeing.

Photography has given me more than a career; it has given me a way of seeing, connecting, and understanding the world around me.

Today, I look back with a heart full of gratitude. Glory to God for this incredible gift of capturing souls, telling stories, and preserving the beauty of His creation taken in Africa by @light_palmer

Seeing these boys young, wild and free takes me straight back to my younger days.

Playing street football was probably the best part of the day. The owner of the ball had all the power, he made most of the decisions and could even end the game whenever he wanted. 😂

At the end of every month, our street team would go and play against the academy boys. They almost always beat us, and honestly, they had every reason to. We played barefoot, while they had proper boots, kits and everything they needed.

We were the underdogs.

But one day, we decided we were tired of losing. We prepared to win. We trained hard, became disciplined, and showed up on match day with something different in us.
When the final whistle blew, the score was 2–1.

We had won.

We returned to our street like heroes.
More than 20 years later, those memories are still so vivid.

I can still remember the joy, the pride, the friendships, and what it felt like to prove that sometimes being the underdog is exactly what makes the story worth remembering.

So honored to have my very first international film screening in New York City. 🇺🇸🎬

Rahma is a short film that is incredibly dear to me. While filming and editing this story, I came to realize something that has stayed with me deeply:

Motherhood is a journey of a thousand hands.

This film reminded me that behind every mother’s journey are many hands, hands that care, guide, protect, support, and sometimes simply hold.

A heartfelt thank you to @wajamama_foundation for trusting me, believing in my vision, and giving me the opportunity to take on this story as a writer and director together with @malikascends

And to my incredible team thank you for every hand, every heart, and every moment you gave to bring Rahma to life. You are all amazing.

I thank God for carrying me this far on this incredible journey. I would not be where I am today without the love, encouragement, and support of the people who have walked alongside me from different corners of the world.

To every person who has believed in me, supported my work, encouraged me, opened a door, shared my work, or simply stood by me, I love you, and I appreciate you more than words can express.

Thank you for being part of my journey and for helping make these ten years so meaningful.

I grew up hearing stories and legends of Kilimanjaro until one day, I finally went to see it for myself.

A place like no other. A place God crafted with such detail, beauty, and awe.

I came looking for the mountain, but left carrying memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. by @light_palmer

Initially, children’s photography wasn’t my niche. But somewhere along the journey, I found myself connecting with them more than I ever expected. Through my lens, I don’t just see children, I see Alkebulan Kids, the children of the original Africa. Their laughter, curiosity, resilience, and unfiltered spirit remind me of the beauty of where we come from. Every portrait is more than a photograph; it’s a celebration of our roots, our stories, and the future carried in their eyes. by @light_palmer
