✨ Meet Tammy Julleekeea

Architectural Lighting Designer Tammy Julleekeea works across hospitality, landscape, façade and workplace projects, bringing together creativity, technical understanding and environmental responsibility.

Her interest in lighting begins during an internship at a lighting consultancy while studying at Brunel University, where she discovers the unique ability of light to influence experience, behaviour and our connection to place.

Since joining dpa, Tammy continues to explore the relationship between artificial light, human perception and the natural world. Her interest in responsible lighting design also leads her to investigate light pollution and its impact on marine ecosystems as a finalist in the 2024 SLL Young Lighter competition.

For Tammy, Incubator is an opportunity to step outside the traditional design environment and start a wider conversation about how we experience light.

“For me, this is an opportunity to step outside the traditional design environment and start conversations about how we experience light. I’m excited to learn from others, challenge my own thinking, and discuss a topic that continues to inspire my work as a lighting designer.”

We’re excited to see where that conversation leads. 💡

📸A selection of images from Going Dark, the international workshop curated by Traverso-Vighy Architetti and Light Collective, held in a charming village along the Via Francigena, in the heart of Tuscany.

The event brings together architects, lighting designers and landscape professionals from around the world to explore how historic and natural spaces can be illuminated while preserving darkness, reducing light pollution and protecting the night sky.

Going Dark is more than a workshop. It is an opportunity for exchange, experimentation and professional development, demonstrating how technological innovation, design sensitivity and respect for the environment can coexist. Because designing with light also means knowing when to leave room for darkness.

Our heartfelt thanks to all the professionals who took part and to the organizers, @traversovighy and @lightcollective, for making this unique experience possible.

✨ Meet Sharika Sabah

Sharika Sabah is a Lighting Designer at Buro Happold, bringing an architectural perspective to the relationship between space, people and light.

Originally from Bangladesh, Sharika’s journey into lighting design grows from her architectural background and a fascination with how light can shape the experience of a place. Her Master’s degree in Light and Lighting at UCL deepens this interest, developing her understanding of both the technical and creative sides of the profession.

Working in the UK also gives Sharika the opportunity to explore a different lighting culture, with its wealth of regulations, guidance and best practice, while continuing to look for opportunities for creativity and innovation.

At Incubator, she is keen to develop another important part of her practice: communication.

She wants to build confidence in presenting ideas, strengthen her storytelling and concept-development skills, and learn from the different perspectives of her peers and mentors.

For Sharika, it is about becoming a more engaging and impactful communicator — and finding better ways to make design ideas resonate with an audience.
We can’t wait to hear what she has to share. 💡

Most responsible exterior design starts too late, trying to fix a scheme that was unnecessary from the start. Azin Dilmaghani presents a decision-first framework that questions whether to light a space before drawing a single line.

Inspired by the energy and accessibility of TED-style presentations, Incubator is designed as a space for experimentation, learning and peer-to-peer exchange. The emphasis is not on delivering polished conference keynotes, but on nurturing new voices and creating opportunities for emerging professionals to share ideas in an encouraging environment.

Participants will receive mentoring and support throughout the process, helping them develop their content, refine their presentation skills and build the confidence to speak in front of an audience. By providing practical experience and constructive feedback, Incubator aims to bridge the gap between developing expertise and taking the stage at industry conferences and events.

At its foundation, Incubator is about investing in the future of the lighting design profession. It creates connections between peers, fosters new perspectives and empowers the next generation of presenters to contribute to the conversations shaping the industry.
