There was a version of me
that learned to disconnect from herself in order to survive.

To become smaller.
Quieter.
More acceptable.
Less complicated for other people to hold.

And for a long time,
I thought healing would feel dramatic.
Like a breakthrough.
Like finally becoming someone new.

But lately, it feels more like this.

A soft return.
A body unclenching.
Hands resting over a heart that spent years bracing for impact.

Not performing.
Not proving.
Not trying to earn my place through exhaustion, usefulness, or self-abandonment.

So here I am
Just sitting with myself long enough
to realize I was never actually asking to be perfect.

I was asking to feel safe.

Safe to exist as I am.
Safe to take up space without guilt.
Safe to stop carrying the emotional weight of everyone around me.
Safe to be seen without immediately wanting to disappear after.

There is grief in realizing how long you lived disconnected from your own tenderness.

But there is also something sacred
about witnessing yourself return in real time.

Not polished.
Not fully healed.
But here.

And maybe that is where the light begins. by @lightreframed

I’m learning the difference
between forcing growth
and allowing it.

Some things don’t need to be chased.
They need to be rooted.

Not everything is clear yet, but I feel more steady.

For most of my life, I learned how to disappear quietly.

Today, I stand differently.

Not fully free.
Not fully found.

But no longer hidden either.
And learning to be me again. by @lightreframed

Have you ever stayed silent until you finally broke?

Until you broke, what did that silence cost you?

From brokenness, we awaken.
As we return to ourselves, we rise from the ashes.

Not to rebuild what shattered, but to gently release what was never meant to remain.

“Nothing is falling apart. It is falling open.”

What if you’re not falling apart?
What if you’re falling open, revealing what has lived inside you all along?

When the shell cracks, the core is exposed.

Raw.
Honest.
True.

Something perhaps even more beautiful than before.

Falling apart feels like surrender, like disappearing beneath the weight of it all.

But falling open is an invitation.
An awakening.
A quiet expansion from within.

Adam fell so men may be.
Not only separation. Becoming.

Maybe you’re not breaking apart.
Maybe you’re opening into something more magnificent than you realize.

The cracks aren’t where you ended.
They’re where the light gets in.

💭 If this resonates, what are you discovering within yourself lately?

I have been quiet for a while.
Not because I was truly gone—
but because I thought I was.

Broken.
Unseen.
Lost.

Somewhere along the way, I lost my identity—my creative spark.
The very essence of what made me, me.

In 2021, I put my camera away for good and walked away from my art.

I told myself I was done. That no matter what I created, it had no point. Taking pictures felt mechanical. The dream I once held of becoming a portrait photographer slipped through my fingers, and with it, my spark faded.

I tried to sell my gear, but every time something left my hands, it felt like a piece of me was being ripped away.

I’ll never forget when a woman came to pick up some posing stools I had listed on Facebook Marketplace. I ended up crying on her shoulder for three hours. She listened. She encouraged me not to give up. That moment showed me just how deeply this art was still a part of me.

Deep down, I knew I wasn’t ready to let go. Every time I tried, it felt like a piece of my heart was being torn apart.

What I didn’t realize then is that the light within me was never gone—it was only dimmed.
Dimmed by disappointment.
Dimmed by the pressure to succeed.
Dimmed by forgetting who I was, and why I ever picked up a camera in the first place.

When I put my camera down, I thought my identity had been taken from me.
But now I see: losing myself was the very thing that reshaped me into who I was meant to become.

✨ Light Reframed is that rebirth.
It’s the shattering of the old self and the discovery of the light that refuses to be dimmed. It’s the stillness where we meet our strength. The story of becoming whole again—through light, shadow, and everything in between.

This is my journey back to myself—and an invitation for you to see yourself in a new way too.

Because at its heart, Light Reframed is this:
The light within is the light that guides the path.

And this is the beginning of something bigger than me.
This is the start of a movement—
to bring to light the fire within you that has been dimmed by life.

If these words land with you, stay close. This is only the beginning. 💫

Feeling the drama of the holidays like…

Looking for a new photoshoot idea? Try this setup. The flower background is a foam core with cheap Walmart flowers poked through, held in place with a tripod which I removed in Photoshop.

“To all the girls that are hurting
Let me be your mirror
Help you see a little bit clearer
That light that shines within”
.
Some days I’m the mirror, other days I’m the girl staring hard at it trying to find that one on the other side.
.
Because I fight so hard to find my own value I want to empower others to find their own beauty too!

“When stress levels rise, when distress appears, when tragedy strikes, too often we attempt to keep up the same frantic pace or even accelerate, thinking somehow that the more rushed our pace, the better off we will be.
.
Let’s be honest; it’s rather easy to be busy. We all can think up a list of tasks that will overwhelm our schedules. Some might even think that their self-worth depends on the length of their to-do list. They flood the open spaces in their time with lists of meetings and minutia—even during times of stress and fatigue. Because they unnecessarily complicate their lives, they often feel increased frustration, diminished joy, and too little sense of meaning in their lives.
.
There is more to life than increasing its speed. There is a beauty and clarity that comes from simplicity that we sometimes do not appreciate in our thirst for intricate solutions.
.
We would do well to slow down a little, proceed at the optimum speed for our circumstances, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes, and truly see the things that matter most.” - Dieter Uchtdorf by @lightreframed

Where are my fellow introverts at?
.
As a very insecure introverted artist, sharing so much of myself though my art is more terrifying than I want to admit. I never want to come across as conceited or self-centered, because those adjectives are as opposite as it gets to who I truly feel I am. Nevertheless, being short of fellow creatives who are willing to go along with my ideas I always end up putting myself through the craziest ideas for the sake of expressing my creativity. Even if no one sees it, it feels good to just put out there what I’ve been holding inside for far too long! #selfportraitartist #selfportrait_society #cps_concepttocreation #simplyselfportraits #selfportraits_on_fire #teamcanonusa by @lightreframed

“Sometimes the best thing you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe and have faith that everything will work out for the best.”
.
If you saw my stories from last night you’ll see that this quote is so fitting for me today. Baby girl got stung by a scorpion and as I watched her little body contort in pain I couldn’t allow myself to obsess over what she was going through because as excruciating it was for her it was beyond terrifying and agonizing for me too. .
As a parent there’s nothing worse than seeing your child suffer as you feel completely helpless; you imagine the worst as you hope for the best. You can’t breathe because you’re so scared. .
I knew she was going to be ok, and boy am I ever so grateful for modern day medicine. While we had to go through the worst all I could do for her was be there to hold her, love her and patiently keep on breathing waiting for everything to be alright. by @lightreframed
