I wish using words was my medium. I try to put them together the best way I can. But unlike a painting, the balance is way more delicate and you can’t just roll with mistakes and smooth it out later. The art of using words is also about capturing the moment. Perception/precision. Painting slows down time which is where I like to be, but sometimes I stay too long. Sometimes I get lost. Time keeps moving. For those times and lack of better words, this arrangement is my apology.

As for the work that was underneath, despite its appearance, was purchased ad space which has now completed its contract. ✌🏽🫶🏽💪🏽

Scale is the tool; character is the result.

Proof that at any size, art manifests the charisma of a space.

Comment “Southland” to see the places I visited on my return to Chicago Southland, a destination with a genre of subcultures that are sure to shape you. Highlights include:
The Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park
Drinks at @evilhorsebrewery
Seeing @lizzyandthetriggerman at @governors_state
Mural spotting in Homewood, often referred to as the “mural capital” of the South suburbs.
Delicious bites and brews at @homewoodbrewingcompany.
Taking in a show at @beverly_theatre_guild_chicago, Chicago’s oldest community theatre.

Comment “Southland” for my Chicago Southland itinerary.

The Chicago Southland area played a big part in shaping me. It was my introduction to many subcultures during a time before the internet. So many paths open in front of you if you choose to look. But for better or worse, what is meant for you will find you, and how you move forward will tell your story.

I had the opportunity to revisit parts of the Southland to see where arts and culture are living these days. Although some cultural hubs have disappeared since my time there, it is refreshing to see what has blossomed since.
