Dear Track and Field,
Thank you for EVERYTHING ❤️‍🩹

After 15 years of racing, competing, winning, losing, laughing, crying, and creating some of the best memories I have ever had… I wish you Track and Field, not a “Goodbye Forever”, but a “See You Soon”. This past year has taught me so much, from embracing defeat and starting all over— to refusing to give up, and learning to love the people and the process over the sport! I just want to thank everyone who has ever loved me, supported me, raced me, hated me, and embraced every part of me for helping me become the woman I am today. Thank you so much for being a part of my life, and I will forever cherish the memories made with each and every last one of you along the way🤍

Most importantly, I really just want to Thank God, for gracing me with the ability to run as well as I have for all of these years. For all of the character building, for bringing me through injury after injury, increasing my physical and spiritual strength along the way. Everything I have ever done was all for the Glory and Honor of you! Without you I am incomplete—I don’t know what God has next in store for me (probably a couple of marathons, maybe even some masters meets for kicks and giggles🤭), but one thing I know for sure is that I would do everything all over again in a heartbeat!

Oh and one last thing!

Hey TCTC…I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith🥹💜🤍 taken in Memory Lane by @lil.swepp

This marks the end of my first Degree from the ILLUSTRIOUS North Carolina Central University ❤️ This was a wonderful process, and I just want to thank everyone who has supported and helped me along this three and a half year journey! To my professors and advisors, I cannot thank you enough for all of your love and support. To my teammates and coaches, both past and present, thank you for taking me under your wings and excepting me as family. To all of the friends I’ve made along the way, I love you more than you can ever imagine. And to my family, I couldn’t have completed this part of my journey without you. Thank you so much!
May your Eagle Pride ALWAYS be Amplified 🥹🦅♥️🩶. -

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

I’m gonna be honest and get real personal y’all, this XC season was something for the books. At the beginning of this season, I did not see myself competing at MEACs. For an entire year I’ve been experiencing pain in my hips with no diagnosis, no treatment plan that would work, and no end in sight. And as I continued to run, the pain would increase and eventually spread to both hips. As we entered the 2023 XC season, I ended up having to spend more time in doctors offices and physical therapy than actually practicing. Eventually, we did reach a diagnosis, but it would’ve required to have surgery, and take me away from the sport for a good bit of time. But guys, when I tell you that whatever is meant for your downfall, God will turn it around for your good. Now I this is gonna sound crazy, but I will honestly appreciate the time I have spent injured more than all of the years running healthy. God took this time to literally sit me down, to re-find myself in him, and recognize that running isn’t everything. God is. And after he took that time to separate from the sport, he sent me right back in.
Originally I was not supposed to run at MEACs, I wasn’t even supposed to hop on the bus. But I kept on feeling the gentle nudge to try. To do what I can, not in my own strength but with Gods. So being the smart person I am…. I fought that nudge with every fiber of my being. I mean, why wouldn’t I, I’m still in pain😂 But when God wants you to accomplish something he makes sure you get to where you are supposed to be. So I ended up on the bus, just planning on supporting all of these amazing and wonderful athletes, and running part of the race. I ended up finishing the race, with little to no pain, and being a part of a team who won 3rd place in our conference. The highest placement we have ever received in NCCU D1 history!
Now I didn’t write this just to show off our shiny new trophy (which is nice don’t get me wrong) but to show you how far trusting in God can take you. I struggled to walk so God ran for me. And through his strength not only did I finish but I finished in the top 25! Now my injury journey isn’t quite over yet, but God got me. And he’s got you too!🤍 taken in Dover, Delaware by @lil.swepp
