Thanks for having me back @plazawalls . Good to be back at the @plazadistrict . That was the best experience I’ve had there yet. You guys are like a fine aged wine. Thanks so much for everything!!!

Took this mural with a different approach since I finally got to get away from the awning and pipes!! The wall was smooth without obstacles, so why not treat it more like a canvas. I had the idea of freedom, kindness, and thoughtfulness in mind when I painted this. The world is in a very dark and heavy place. Like clouds above ready to pour down torrential rains. The birds tell us there is land. The boat carries us into the shores of hope. As many immigrants know that feeling.

I attached my past murals in the plaza because I also went down memory lane when posting this piece. From first to last.

A special thanks to @mrdylanb @maeve_makes_magic @amyfromoklahoma @circlogic 🫶 taken in Plaza Walls by @lildfromokc

The outpouring of support in the last few hours has been tremendous for our community because of a horror arson attack on our boat last night. This sculpture is so much more than a piece of art . It is beacon of strength and hope for the Vietnamese community and our entire city. It’s been such a hard day for us. More emotions than I could have imagined. But the process of rebuilding is already in full motion . The @asiandistrictok has already put up a fundraising campaign at https://givebutter.com/restoretheboat to fully restore the boat, There is a link in my bio . I’m hoping to remove the boat and transport to my shop as early as next week to start to bring this boat back to life. We will redesign and rebuild and reinstall. It will take some time and support. But this project and this community is worth it. So many people have already reached out to Denise, myself and the Asian district wanting to help. So please, if you can, show some community love and share a little with this fundraiser. We will have this boat back in the community as fast as possible. taken in Military Park by @lildfromokc

A Place to Return To
40”x30”
Acrylic, ink, oil pastel, pencil on canvas

I don’t know about you all, but this heat is plastering all the fucked up mess that the world is in right in front of our faces. Leadership that should be taking care of their people are shipping them out or holding them down to drown. I was in a pretty dark place with the statement,. We are so fucked, constantly rolling through my head. I needed out of that space so I paint. I make art. I love on my daughter and family and friends. Of course as soon as I come up for air, I get awful news this morning Ty from Gabriel about a public art piece of ours that had been destroyed. Don’t let me even get started as my heart aches. But, as the boat symbolizes hope and perseverance, it’s trying to remind me, yes. You are right. Things are completely fucked. But have hope and persevere for our kiddos. For nature. But this painting is a place to return to. To remind us to breathe and love one another and help one another. by @lildfromokc

We have made it back to the oven state of Oklahoma. But before school starts back up and I live in my studio most moments of the day, we got to end summer break once again in Michigan. Not sure how many times it takes to do something before it becomes a tradition, but it is. Met up with our friends we made last year camping and soaked up all the camping glories. The rain. The fog. The sunsets. The cold mornings. The contemplations. The overloading thoughts and reflections upon the summer and how confused and lost sometimes I feel in this beautiful and ugly world. Got to draw and write while children climbed trees and looked for bones, which couldn’t be more beautiful. So for now, I shall soak in those beautiful moments I’ve had this summer and paint a little sunshine..that has a cool breeze and doesn’t cook my skin within minutes. taken in Lake Michigan, Muskegon State Park by @lildfromokc

We left Croatia and went on to Portugal. It was nice to stay put in one spot for a long time after road tripping through Croatia. As always, I fall in love with being away. Being away for so long and then coming back, always gives you a different perspective on life. Every time you travel, there’s a new phase in our world, so every perspective ends up being different. I absolutely love to travel with Frankie. We made so many new friends. Got to spend some good quality time with old friends. Frankie and I… Our conversations, our observations, our chill, curious and adventurous ways we travel together is divine. I’ve had a handful of special friends and sisters I traveled all over the world with and have loved. I love traveling alone. But I never knew I would love traveling with my kiddo so much. Experiencing the world with her has been so amazing so far. Time to get locked in my studio and release all the things that I gathered along the way. taken in Lisbon, Portugal by @lildfromokc

Europe round 2 this year. This time, CROATIA. Finally got to add another country to my list! She falls at 37 and we fell in love.

The colors and the history. The textures of nature, the structures. The walks. The slower pace. The late nights. Just saying sure why not. Road tripping up the coast was also a beautiful way to see the country. Our adventures have slowed down now that we are temporarily calling lisbon our home and excited to make some art from these journeys and make new memories here in Lisbon with my girl.

Being in love with life is wonderful. taken in Croatia by @lildfromokc

I chose the loon for this piece. Within this garden of life and existence we have the loon. She resists, unites and is resilient. Mother nature is what we have and without her we don’t exist. by @lildfromokc

Paris ➡️🛤️ London

A whirlwind of a May lead me over the ocean with my sisters.
I have spent a lot of time in Asia and Africa this past decade. I’ve been circling back around to Europe and it’s been a really inspiring trip. Paris inspired me with their attention to detail and passion and pride for what they do. The little shops. The cafes. Just love it all.
You always take away something from a trip. One was.
It’s sad to see the lack of human interaction due to phones. The human connection is quite lost. As if the phone can replace the experience. On the trains it’s quite apparent. But when you sit at a cafe and actually see people interacting it’s wonderful and it fills my heart with joy. An old woman eating a meal all by herself and I’m wondering how the hell is she eating so much and I love her shoes. Or the couple laughing over something that might just be something only they know. I love seeing people eating alone and looking around enjoying their surroundings and embracing being present.
With that said, put your phones down now 😉 happy weekend all. Enjoy the shade. taken in Paris, France by @lildfromokc
