👹 Watching and judging yourself while performing? That’s a big obstacle standing between you and your goal. Stay curious, experiment, and make mistakes instead. You’ll get way closer to your ultimate goal. 🥅

Never put your VO business eggs in one basket. Your business is like a retirement portfolio. Why? Because what works today may not work tomorrow. So yes, audition, but also always make sure you’re visible and people know you exist (outside of Instagram -remember buyers need an account on IG so it’s not a real search engine), and if you can, pitch yourself in direct marketing. That’s a multi-pronged approach that will pad you in tougher times. #voiceacting #vobusiness #freelancer #voiceovertips #onlinevisibility by @liliwexu

How do you craft two different takes of the same VO script? Can be a head-scratcher! But not so much when you get a whole paragraph of directions. Those are gold! 🌟

I don’t post pictures of myself often…I’d much rather talk about VO or share travel pics, but here’s a self-tape #audition face for you! taken in Los Angeles, California by @liliwexu

If you’re trying to SHOW emotion, you’re already one step removed from it.

My advice? Drop into the feeling and let it lead to read.

There’s a big difference between "voicing" a script and really getting behind it (acting it out) 👇🏻

Voicing? That’s just reading the words without much thought.
Acting? That’s when you ask the important questions, like who’s listening? Who am I talking to? What’s the message behind these words?

Because here’s the secret 👉🏼 what you’re selling is rarely just about the product 😉 by @liliwexu

News flash: YOU are the secret sauce 💥 Every voice actor has the same script, but your point of view is something no one else can replicate. Remember that, and you can't lose.

Big reminder from one of my recent coaching sessions that less can be more.

You don’t need to force emotion to make it land. Simplicity and honesty will always hit harder than effort in any read.

Just because it’s commercial VO, it doesn’t mean you leave your acting skills behind 👇🏼

Use your whole instrument (that's your voice, body, and emotion) to communicate how you feel about what you’re saying, because THAT will make it real to the listener 😉
