wow. 1st chair symphonic band, it was such an amazing experience.

music has always been a big part of my life. my journey started with the clarinet in 7th grade. i taught myself how to play for the first year of clarinet. i learned quick, and learned it is best to figure things on your own. that’s where my passion grew, i wanted to learn more, curiosity.
in high school i switched to bass clarinet. i also learned this instrument all by myself. i began to love the idea of creating nothing into something. and i stuck with bass clarinet since then.
i never took a lesson, never paid a dime. i got here all on my own. this was all me. and yes, my high school band director did teach me. but the effort was put outside of the band class.
i got third chair concert band last year, and first chair symphonic band to end my senior year. there is no one out there that is more proud of me, than myself. the tears of frustration, anxiety of audition results, squeaking on the clarinet, every part of it got me to this point in my life.
i made so many friends this year, and i am so glad to be a part of your journey, and i am so lucky you are a part of mine. every single person i spent time with this week truly showed me actual friendship in a short period of time. so thank you.
thank you kmea, i will remember you forever. taken in Kentucky Performing Arts by @lillian.benton_

yay for the last WKU honor band ever!
I had an absolute blast, meeting new and old friends, and putting together fun pieces in less than 24 hours. Also apparently i’m famous across other schools?! and two solos!! i loved it by @lillian.benton_

Hi I'm Lillian Benton! I'm from Ohio County High School in Hartford KY. I am 100% committed to EKU for the fall of 2026, majoring in criminal justice and minor in pre-law. In my free time, I enjoy shopping, playing my instrument, being with my family & friends and so much more. I plan to be apart of the marching band and student government, and I am thinking about rushing. I am looking for a roommate, and I look forward to meet new people, so reach out to me!!
