Making these pickups from scratch has thrown many challenges into the mix, but I’m super happy with how they look and sound!
Finally the first resonator is complete and ready to ship to its new home in Europe I can focus on upgrading my one and making some more for display units! Most parts are already made so more resonators coming soon! by @lillis_instruments

As I get close to woodwork and assembly of the first batch of resonators I’m excited to announce a stripped back “lite” version to add to the lineup. It covers 2 octaves and drops the key selector making it less than half the size and price. More details to come!
In these renders you can see the updated design for the drivers which give a huge boost in performance, the updated key selector which can be entirely disengaged for chromatic chaos and most recently the new Pickup design.
The sidewinder pickups have a very musical sound with superior noise cancelling and more top end clarity than a traditional humbucker. by @lillis_instruments

I’ve been busy very in the workshop making parts and mess 😅. I have unexpectedly had to add pickups to the list of things I’m fabricating myself, which has delayed production a bit. I have several designs to build and test next week while I test the performance of the new drivers with a thermal camera 🥼🥽🔬. taken in Brunswick, Victoria by @lillis_instruments

Wow. It’s been a massive year! A small part of that has been launching the Resonator, but mostly it’s been navigating the challenges and joys of being a dad!

Now as work has finished up, and Heidi approaches her 1st birthday and begins daycare I have some decent time to get stuck into building over summer in my own little corner of the workshop in Brunswick.

Thanks so much to @cwatson_studio for putting up with my endless resonator blabbering and late nights working on designs and ordering parts. I couldn’t have done it without you.

A big thanks to everyone who has borrowed, hired, tinkered, recorded and played around with the resonator, it’s been so great to finally get it out into the world.

I’m super excited for next year, I have lots of new designs and ideas to develop from slide guitars to reverbs and other new instruments. Ill put on some gigs and I’ll have Resonators out in the world being used by my first customers and on display in a local music shop.

The first live Resonator performance for the single launch of “People Pleaser” by the wonderful @leahseniormusic which incidentally is also the first official release featuring the Resonator recorded and produced by @jesserecording.
