And it surely isn’t Cabaret - the Musical.

Between rush and ruin, sequins and social commentary, Lilly Mortis guides the audience through her fantastical fever dream that is Berlin. Joining her on this wild ride are the absolute legends and magnificent humans @jon_darc @colette.collerette @michieltangevanleeuwen @pp.maus2 @chrislloydpianist @hanmeister.s and more creatures of the night creating a cvntemporary Gesamtkunstwerk.

Berlin has danced on the volcano before.

A hundred years after the Weimar era, the parallels feel impossible to ignore: economic insecurity, right-wing gains, and aggressive political fantasies about how men and women are supposed to exist. Culture feels loud and excessive again, but the background noise is fear.

For cabaret star and director Lilly Mortis, queer performance is not vintage nostalgia. It is an early-warning system. A survival technology.

In her shows, beauty becomes a Trojan horse. Glitter, high camp, comedy, and raw s3xual!ty pull you in, while sharp political commentary lands right where it needs to: against fascism, patriarchy, and the shrinking of safe spaces.

Because when the outside world hardens, claiming our pleasure, our bodies, and our stages is not frivolous. It is resistance.

LILLY MORTIS’ KABARET KLUB: THE DREAM CAME TRUE

When legends set out to create the ultimate cabaret experience, and suddenly it all comes together. Everything falls into place and sparks begin to fly.

What a magical beginning it was!

A Ballhaus filled to the brim, buzzing with excitement, the air electric. Standing ovations, sparkling lights, flashing personalities and a pegging of the patriarchy. The intoxicating rush of Berlin nightlife, the decadence of 1920s cabaret, a dance on the volcano. Glitter, rebellion and moments of extraordinary tenderness.

THIS is why I do cabaret.

Underneath the chandeliers of my beloved @ballhausberlin, my favourite of places, we brought the wild, political spirit of Weimar cabaret into the here and now, mixing it with contemporary club culture, queer extravagance and the sheer joy of coming together.

In the heart of Babylon an der Spree, what a glorious collection of creatures!
@hanmeister.s bringing Anita Berber and Colette together in a unique live painting.

@chrislloydpianist enchanting us with his irresistible charm at the grand piano.

@pp.maus2 confronting us with The Great Dictator in a storm of laser lights.

@jon_darc our Goldkehlchen and electronic pop icon, captivating us with his voice and electrifying presence.

@michieltangevanleeuwen our gravity-defying diva with legs for days, serving camp, spectacular dance and chandelier-hanging glamour.

@colette.collerette our Belgian superstar, carrying us into a lyrical universe of freedom, sensuality and movement.

To every wonderful human who made my dream a reality, onstage and behind the scenes, THANK YOU. And to everyone who came to laugh, cry, cheer and dance with us: you are the reason we do this.

Last weekend, a new cabaret universe was born.

Lilly Mortis’ KABARET KLUB,
where cabaret show meets Berlin club.
Where feathers meet lasers.
Softness meets chains.
Champagne meets sweat.
Flowers meet whips.

A little glamour. A little danger. A lot of beautiful weirdos underneath the chandeliers.

This is our rebellion: to create a place for the creeps, the queers, the misfits, the creatures of the night. A place where you can be excessive, tender, strange, loud, soft and become someone entirely different for a night.

Last weekend, a new era began at @ballhausberlin as Lilly Mortis’ KABARET KLUB, the cabaret of the New Twenties, opened its doors.

Beyond the glitter lies a deeper meaning.

In this beautiful conversation with Giada Armani for @berlinable, we spoke about our hopes and dreams, our fears, and the futures we imagine. About what it means to create contemporary Cabaret in Berlin, and what it feels like to dance in the volcano again.

My job lets me experience so many moments of pure beauty. When I stand on stage, looking into a gorgeous room, surrounded and embraced by attention of people, and the music is good and I am wearing something that I created with so much love and I wish this could go on forever.
