As a new season starts, you can expect to feel joy, excitement, and energy. You put so much time and effort into your sport, hoping to end the season with a championship title. In those moments, it can become your only care in the world and everything else in life gets put on hold.

This season, of softball and life, is different for many of us. This time it comes with loss, heartbreak, and confusion. So many questions of why her and how could this happen? This season is about more than just softball. It’s about playing for someone who should still be here. Someone who will always be a part of our team, even if we can no longer see her standing with us.

There are so many things that remind me of Holli in everyday life, and I’m so thankful for that. Although we may not have realized it in the moment every memory we shared with her is something we will cherish forever, the ones that make us laugh and even the ones that make us cry. Those memories are something no one can ever take away from us.

Every practice, every game, every inning, and every pitch will mean a little more. As we step onto the field today we’ll continue to think of you in everything that we do. We love you Holli and we can’t wait to see you again.
