@nicoleskeltys is, in her own words, a “one woman, early noughties wholesome variety show.” Producing music as half of pioneering electro outfit B(if)tek in the late ‘90s, individually as Artificial, and many more projects since, Nicole has no shortage of threads in Australia’s musical tapestry.

Her return to dance music has coincided with the reissue of B(If)tek’s debut record ‘Sub Vocal Theme Park’, organised by Gadigal Land/Sydney turned Berlin-based label @portal_replica.

This weekend, she performs live as Artificial at @papercutsltd’s takeover of @rubixwarehouse, to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

@martynkabasta studied classical guitar before she started making music; turning to field recordings which would come to from the backbone of her practice. In our interview, she credits many a sleepless nights to the discover of granular synthesis, the re-processing of even the most mundane sounds to a point of staggering renewal.

I phoned Martyna at home in Poland, where she lives, interviewing her from a hotel while guests noodled around in the background. We talked about being introverted, sitting with sounds and the making of her third album Winged in Collapse, which released today.

The record is her first release on a major label (@7k_music).

Martyna’s complete interview + accompanying music will air on FBi Radio this Sunday 11-1am (AEST).

“I’ve attempted to make the music that I hear in the dance clubs I dream about,” Wurundjeri Land-based artist TBK (@timo_hybrown) shared. “I’ve never really been to a dance club, but I’m trying to be sophisticated.”

His album, ‘888-890’ is the latest release on Gadigal Land-based producer @gi._.__’s label @worldof.knots, a collection of ‘luddite techno’ experiments recorded from the artist’s home in Victoria’s bush.

In every interaction of his work, “TKB’s artistry always comes back to his surroundings: restless ambient or ‘dance club’ music sculpted by the outdoors,” writer @lillygrainger explores.
