a week ago, august 7th, i had to say the hardest goodbye to Soldier. he was the bestest friend a girl could’ve ever hope for. i know he touched a lot of lives. he was a lil crazy but full of love and such a happy boy. i always talked about how an animator needed to make a cartoon of him because of how expressive he was.

my heart aches as i’m coming to terms he’s gone but i can’t help but feel peace and comfort knowing we’re all in the Hands of God. what this process has taught me and shown me is so sweet even in the midst of a really hard month. God doesn’t like death either for He Himself is Life. Soldier was like a lil angel of mine in the form of a dog, he has been a very big part of my growing up.

i think there’s a lot to learn from animals and Soldier specifically. i always said he’s full of love and i wasn’t joking, he loved everyone and would always want to check in on them and say hi. he gave the best hugs and when he’d “shake” or “hold hands” he’d actually curve his paw in. he sounded like Chewbacca sometimes when he talked. he was so strong & unapologetically himself. the way Soldier was is a great reflection to me of how maybe we ought to live, he exuded joy and love. i always meant it when i said “you’re the sweetest boy in the world,” even up to the end the vets said he is “a doll” and “has no mean bone in his body.” so thankful to have spent the past 11 years with my Soldier Bear, Soldier boy 🩵🐾 who forever holds a special place in my heart 🧸 by @lilmaksam
