SONGFISH OUT NOW 🫀

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Salt the Song and Video are out Now.

I wrote this song in 2022 during a period of uncertain steps forward and blurry plans. I made four versions of it that never felt like the right language, as @nicholassansano told me “This is a special song. You’re mining around it.” I felt buried under a lot last year, and I truly feel like completing this album was a debt I owed to myself and even though most of the record was written from under the avalanche, Salt has been the energetic center that fueled this whole project- even when that fuel was sheer spite and fight. This project has helped me reclaim myself, to know myself and my stories in a different way. It feels strange to be promoting music right now, but this record and this song are about digging your heels in the mud, deeply stubborn and rooted in your conviction to be ever-changing and challenging. I hope that Salt can give you 3 minutes of peace and a reminder of the inseverable connective tissue that binds us together, and what makes us real to each other.

We shot this video in 2023 with a wonderful team of people gathered up by @esteban_pal and @iglesiasdp. I’m so thankful to each and every person who worked on this video and every pair of hands and shoulders that held up this endeavor. Thank you thank you thank you.

My first album Songfish is out now 😭🫀 this record took almost 3 years to finish, and some of these songs are 6(!) years old. This record lived and breathed with me for such a long time it feels like a limb. It took every ounce of strength, stubborn commitment, frustration and unrelenting joy I’ve ever had to get to this point. It feels triumphant in the way I imagine Thelma and Louise felt in that first second after their car wheels left the earth. MAKING MUSIC IS SO SCARY. And that’s mostly what this record is about. It’s so hard and I truly do hate that this is my path sometimes! And I think that’s okay! I choose it anyways.

I must thank my mom first @barbaramcw for her constant and unwavering support of me and my music. I thank @emmamcwhirterr for being an inspiration and sounding board. Thank you @halliekanter @jacq_justice @alexkjustice & @katebenzian for their work on the visuals for this record. @esteban_pal for all his help, support and trust. Thank you to Caleb for making this with me and pushing me to finish it. @pfrueh for his musical talents and mixing. @chriscassriel for the masters. @campbell.munro thank you for the socials help and belief in this project. I also thank @mikeerrico for teaching me how to believe in myself and uplifting me when I could not do it myself. And to @soupy_stophy for talking me off every ledge and having my back always. Thank you to everyone who touched the salt video in any way! @iglesiasdp @bekstrauss @gracebaderconrad @chloebetaylor @connorkeep @alexanderfeldman_dp @noahmezzacappa @yazgbaja @lastblackmaninbk @haydenshinn @sashel_del @ryanhalasz @joseph__cutler IT TAKES A VILLAGE THANK YOU ALL!!!! by @lily_ryder

‘87’ is out now. This song is an unwitting trudge, an explosion of guilt and joy and fear and force. It’s a dark walk home. I hope it’s a long enough walk to get you to June 20th, and thank you thank you thank you for listening to my songs. It means everything to me. SONGFISH4LIFE
