August 28th - That is the date Hazel was reclaimed by the universe. She had been mine since 3 years old… more of my life I spent with her in it, then without, with her by my side for 15-16 years. She was the physical embodiment of my childhood, and with her death went that. It is devastating in the way I am always excited to see her, like she is in the room next to me at Nana’s house, then remember she is gone and not coming back. I will miss her, for longer than she was mine, and I will die loving her. She truly is such an amazing part of this life’s experience. I am so grateful to feel this grief as it is my final form of love towards her. Her final night I spent with her cuddling and her last meal was half a melted butter stick… fat at heart till the end. When I walked out of the vet office holding her body in a cardboard box, I immediately spotted a praying mantis on the white wall outside. For me, finding a praying mantis is a message and blessing from the divine. I sobbed - it felt like her final comfort for me. I buried her with her favorite toy and my hand print for all the paw prints she gave me. Her grave is a pollinator garden that I will continue to expand, with the marigolds to help guide her soul.
I knew she had sarcoma cancer in her back leg since May. In the end, I made the choice to euthanize her because she did not deserve to suffer from uncontrollable pain.

Working Career Academy - What a wonderful group of highschoolers with such bright futures! My other coworkers, you made this experience so memorable and I have some more lifelong friends. I really got to experience it fully from being a student to counselor. I would do it all again. I hope to see many of you students working for DNR in the future! 🌲🌊 by @lilyrose_c2007

More More Work - Summer came to an end and so did my job. I am so grateful to have gotten to experience all of it, especially with you other counselors (y’all made it special). From the poop incident to getting to see kids faces be amazed by what they learned, we went through the bad and good together, all to come back to the work house and yap for hours. Work - Camp counselor position with housing and meals. Love my fulfilling job, with friends that make me feel my best. So far, from this experience has allowed me to make connections, learn, and enjoy my summer to the fullest. Very grateful! 🥰🌳 by @lilyrose_c2007

Central State Hospital - Museum and urban exploring with my Mom and Mannon. Founded in 1842, it was at one time the world’s largest mental institution with 12,000 patients and 6,000 employees, sitting on 8,000+ acres of land. The experience was very educational and interesting. Would recommend the trip! 🏥 taken in Central State Hospital (Milledgeville, Georgia) by @lilyrose_c2007
