We’ve heard your questions, felt your support, and are excited to share more about what makes LDC special!

💡 Who we are and what's our mission? Located in Illinois, we’re a collective of families with young children with limb differences. We are here to connect, educate, and uplift more families and individuals in the limb difference community locally and beyond.

🤝 Building Community – From meetups to events like our Annual Brookfield Zoo gathering, we’re bringing families together.

🏥 Partnering with Medical Professionals – Closing the gap in pregnancy and postpartum support so families feel prepared, not alone.

📦 A “Hug in a Box” Initiative – Inspired by LimbBo Foundation's parent packs, we want to bring resource bundles to parents and caregivers entering into the community.

🔗 Collaboration Over Competition – We’re here to work with organizations, not against them—bridging gaps, supporting initiatives, and growing together.

Our 2nd Annual Pints for Purpose fundraiser is just TWO WEEKS away, and we need your help getting the word out!

👀 Yesterday @wgnnews and @erincolleenmcelroy shared clips from our adventures and LLLDAM meetups at Brookfield Zoo, and we got a little teary watching.

🧡 They featured the Limb Difference Collective Foundation, because our co-founder, Ali Barnum, was named a WGN Remarkable Woman @remarkablewomennxst earlier this year, a recognition from @nexstarmediagroupinc Nexstar Media Group and WGN.

Over the last few months, LDCF was presented to the 100 Women Who Care Medinah chapter.

This week, we got to invite them into our world. 💛 We shared what goes inside a Hugs-in-a-Box, the stories behind why we created them, the events we've been honored to organize and why community matters so much to families navigating limb difference and limb loss.

Then came a moment we weren’t quite prepared for…

🥹 They chose LDCF for their quarterly giving, and with the help of matching donors, their collective support was truly extraordinary.

For a small nonprofit like ours, this kind of support means more opportunity to reach families, build connections, expand outreach, and continue creating programs that remind families:

You are not alone.

If you’ve never heard of 100 Women Who Care, it’s a giving circle where women come together quarterly, each contributes $100, a few nonprofits are nominated, and the group votes together on where their collective donation will go.

⚽Field trip! 🖤 LDCF families: join us Saturday, October 4th at 3 PM as the Chicago Stars @thechicagostars takes on Denver Summit FC @denversummit_fc at Northwestern Medicine Field.

The Chicago Stars are making some big changes to their team and ready to come out strong and in the Denver Summit's first season they're definitely making a name for themselves!

We're especially excited to cheer on Carson Pickett, Defender for the Summit, because there's nothing like watching your kid watch a pro who looks just like them 🥹

We'll be in the North Front Half, Section N3, with a group discount from our friends at GLASA - Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (the kids at their Camp Trek got to meet some of the players this summer!). Plus, it's a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with the Nuestra Ciudad promos, so it's shaping up to be a great event!

"We create stronger relationships through language, and relationships create a better world." 💙 That's what's written on the wall at Interpro Translation Solutions, and yesterday, they lived it.

A few months ago we met their team at a networking event. They then helped us translate our Resource Booklets that go into the Hug-In-A-Box care packages so now we have a Spanish version, too!

This week, they helped us pack 100+ envelopes of these resources which are headed to hospitals and medical professionals across the area - so families get support the moment they need it most.

Grateful doesn't even cover it. Thank you for helping us make an impact, Interpro @interproinc
