Meet Robert!!!!!!!!
We are incredibly happy to introduce you to Robert Owens who will be WALKING the RUNWAY at SHOW YOUR SHINE 2027!!!!!!!
Robert is 56 years old, and was born and raised in NY! He currently lives in Mineola, and grew up in Seaford!
He is eager to share his journey, as a tool for others to be motivated and inspired. He has overcome a tremendous amount over the course of 3 years, and his wish is to help others to believe that they too can overcome something they may feel is impossible.

In June 2023, Rob’s world turned when he had an aortic dissection as an emergency surgery upon departing a plane from LA at JFK airport.
One month later, he awoke from a coma, and learned for the first time that he was now an amputee. He was now a left above the knee amputee, and also missing a finger on his right hand.
Rob was given a 5 % chance of survival. He learned that he had a severe allergic reaction to the drug Heparin, which ultimately caused blood clots throughout his entire body.
Rob praises Dr.Brinster and the staff at @lenoxhillhospitalnyc for saving his life.

Three years and 4 months later, Robert says says, “I am trying hard to get back to as much of a normal life as I can after experiencing a near death experience..”
He has been getting back to working on his cars, and playing the piano again- two of his favorite past times.
His greatest loves are his two daughters;
Josephine (Jojo) and Vivienne (Vivi)
Jojo is 20 and Vivi is 16, and he is incredible proud of both of them.

Rob! You have overcome so much in such a short time, and it is our absolute HONOR to celebrate your journey, and commemorate the way you have chosen to RISE. We love your outlook on LIFE, and your desire to give hope to others who may need it. THAT is humanity.

It brings us SO much joy to introduce NIXON SMITH @zhiii_smith who will be traveling from FL ➡️ NY for Show Your Shine 2027!!!!

Nixon is 20 years old and lives in Satellite Beach, FL. Nixon is one of 6 siblings- and many of you will remember his sisters @bella_smiiith and @katelyn.smiith who walked the runway in our very first SYS, and his brother Nico who was in SYS in 2022! The Smith family has been part of the Limb Kind family for many many years and we all adore every single one of them! This year is Nixon’s year to show HIS shine, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him! Nixon is kind, bright, and an all around awesome person. He loves building Legos, drawing, and doing 3D printing. He is an incredibly talented artist, and is so creative! He truly enjoys working with his hands and figuring
things out. He also enjoys helping with the computer/tech system at our church, and he works at Publix!

Nixon was born with arthrogryposis affecting his hands and legs. He has been determined since day one to adapt, learn, and be independent.
Nixon has shared that he is looking forward to SYS in February and having this experience.. and WE ALL couldn’t be more ecstatic to welcome him! Nixon- THIS IS YOUR YEAR!!! You have so much to show the world, and we can not wait to celebrate YOU, and with you!!!!

We are SO thrilled to introduce Darian Sackey who will be walking the runway in SHOW YOUR SHINE 2027!!!!! Darian is 19 years old and born and raised in the Bronx. He currently is a sophomore at Monroe University, and is studying hospitality management.
Darian was born with a condition called Tibial Hemimelia in both legs. He underwent his amputations at 18 months, and then received his prostheses soon after that. Since then, he has lived a full and active life 🙌. He loves fashion, being outdoors, spending time with his friends, and cooking!

Darian shared, “ being a double amputee does come with its struggles from time to time, but I never give up, and continue to push through no matter what”. 💪🙌

Darian continues to study hard in school, with goals to become an event designer or bar owner. Darian is motivated and eager to accomplish his goals. Friends describe Darian as courageous, intelligent, and strong. When asked, Darian describes himself as creative, bold and resilient. It comes as NO surprise that he was voted Prom King at his high school!!! Darian is loved and appreciate by so many people.

Darian…. we are THRILLED beyond to welcome you to SYS 2027, and can’t wait to celebrate all of your wonderful accomplishments and all the unique and incredible things that make you who you are!!!!!!

Meet Jackson!!!!!!

We are SO excited to introduce Jackson Lange who will be traveling from NJ ➡️ NY for Show Your Shine 2027!!!!

Jackson is 12 years old and lives in Bedminster NJ. He was born with fibular hemimelia, and had his right foot amputated when he was seven months old. On his very first birthday he received his first prosthetic and he has not stopped moving since!!!!

Jackson has a large family and a lot of friends. His family states that that support structure has helped Jackson to grow into the amazing person he is today.
He has the best personality!!! He’s funny, smart, quick witted, and loves to be goofy and joke around with friends! Jackson’s friends, family, and teachers ALL agree that Jackson is a kid who has the best attitude, is always kind, fair, AND treats everyone with respect.

When Jackson finds something that he enjoys, his curiosity and enthusiasm take over and he loves learning everything he can about those topics! He loves music, movies, video games and cartoons.

Jackson is proud to be amputee. 🙌 He wears shorts proudly, and showing off his awesome prostheses everywhere he goes 💪💯!!! He loves to chose the design for his socket, and has had bright green frogs, lightening, cartoon characters, sea creatures and dinosaurs. He always wears mismatched socks; the brighter and more colorful the BETTER!!!

Jackson is determined and unstoppable! He refuses to let anything get in his way of the things he wants to do! He loves swimming, scootering and skiing.

Jackson- we love your zest for LIFE! You have a passion for living your best life and being one hundred percent uniquely YOU- and that… is…. AWESOME! YOU are an amazing kid that will undoubtedly go far in life with your positive attitude and awesome confidence.

It brings us great joy to announce that Evelyn Taylor @evpaige will be walking the runway at SHOW YOUR SHINE 2027!!
She will be traveling from TX ➡️ NY and we can NOT wait to welcome her!!!

Evelyn is 26 years old, and loves to travel, go to concerts, spend time with family + friends AND, in her words, somehow really enjoys watching @realhousewivesfranchise

Four years ago, Evelyn became a quadruple amputee. She survived septic shock, and Legionnaires disease, resulting in the loss of all four limbs- both legs below the knee, and both arms below the elbow.

Evelyn was told she would never walk again…

Evelyn said, “ For a long time I had to figure out what my life was going to look like when it wasn’t the life I planned. I haven’t just learned to live again- I’ve learned how to really LOVE the life I have”.

Evelyn is full of LIFE. She is resilient. stubborn in the BEST way, strong, funny, and determined to NOT let the hardest thing that ever happened to her become the best thing about her. 🙌. Instead of focusing on parts of her life that she lost, she is directing her energy on everything she HAS and everything she CAN still do! 🙌💪
“I shine when I’m doing something I was told I could not do”.
“I shine when I laugh with the people I love”.
“I shine when I get to encourage someone who is going through something hard”.
“I shine when I can walk into a room exactly as I am, and not feel like I need to hide the things that make me different”.

Evelyn has been enjoying adaptive sports since her amputations- rock climbing, surfing, pickleball, yoga, cycling, archery.. and loving it all!

Evelyn. There are few words that can express how very excited we are to welcome you to the runway. You are the epitome of what this runway event is all about. Never hide who you are - be proud to take up space- and always show YOUR shine because YOU are beautiful, courageous, full of light and love and all the good things in this world!!!!

We have a very special announcement today….
MEET PETER!!!

Peter is 4 years old and will be traveling from NJ ➡️ NY to walk the runway at Show Your Shine 2027!!!!! We could not be more excited to welcome him!

Peter is one of four brothers - yes, 4 boys! He is determined, adventurous, and absolutely does not let anything stop him!!

Peter was born with a congenital upper and lower limb difference on his left side, as well as a cleft lip and palate. This was discovered at his 20 week anatomy scan.

Peter’s journey will never be defined by his differences. He has already shown the world that he is perfectly made, just the way he is ❤️. He loves LIFE! Peter loves dinosaurs, bowling, mini golf, swimming, the playground and mountain climbing! He also loves to play with his brothers and his friends.

Mac and Cheese, ice cream, chicken and strawberries are his absolute favorite :) And he loves Paw Patrol, Angry Birds and Sesame Street when it comes to TV shows.

Peter is bringing his big personality, determination, and his absolutely incredible smile to the Show Your Shine RUNWAY and we are SO excited to celebrate him!!

MEET STELLA!!! @stellar_114

SO happy to welcome Stella to Show Your Shine 2027!!!!! Stella will be traveling from Chicago ➡️ NY and we are so excited to meet her!!! Stella is 28 years old, and was born with a congenital limb difference affecting both legs above the knee.

Stella was abandoned at birth, and grew up in an orphanage in Vietnam. She was adopted at age 3, and grew up in Chicago. This was where she was introduced to adaptive sports! She is a 10x IHSA state champion for track and field 🙌. Stella also played in the women’s wheelchair basketball team for @illinois1867 at Champaign- Urbana where her team won 3rd in Nationals and she was nominated 1st Team All American 👏. After she graduated undergrad, she then attended The University Of Chicago School of Law. She has recently graduated, AND passed the Bar!!!! Stella is passionate about advocating for disability and civil rights.

Stella is extremely athletic and loves being active! She also plays wheelchair softball, sitting volleyball AND wake boards!!!

Stella! There truly isn’t anything you DONT DO!! You are the epitome of #noexcuses and we think you are incredible!!! We cannot wait to celebrate YOU, and all the amazing wonderful beautiful and courageous things that make you who you are.
