And just like that, it’s back-to-school season! 🎒

One of the things I love about bringing limbo into schools is how quickly the students get into it.

It starts with a few brave volunteers, and before long, everyone’s cheering each other on and wanting a turn.

With the new school year under way, I’m looking forward to more school visits, assemblies, cultural celebrations and special events in the months ahead.

One of the unexpected parts of a busy summer of performances has been all the great conversations that happened away from the stage.

I had the opportunity to meet Consul General Kurt Davis, Jamaica’s Consul-General, and we got talking about our shared excitement for Reggae Month coming to Canada, along with some of the incredible cultural events happening back home in Jamaica. 🇯🇲

Performing has taken me into a lot of different spaces over the years, and I’m always grateful when it creates opportunities to connect with people I might not otherwise have met.

Great meeting you, @kurtodeee Looking forward to hopefully crossing paths again at some future Reggae Month events.

And shoutout to @spexdaboss for all the work bringing Reggae Month to Canada. 🇯🇲

Feeling extra grateful for moments like these this Thanksgiving weekend. ❤️

This summer was BUSY. So many shows, so many events, and some of my favourite memories were getting to do it all with my girls along for the ride.

Here’s Zaira (DJ Topaz) on the decks, Ayana working the limbo sticks, and me doing what I do at Caribbean Days. 🌴🔥

We definitely put in some work this summer, but we had a lot of fun doing it together. Grateful for these two, all the opportunities that came our way, and everyone who showed up and supported us along the way.

We had the chance to meet Jamaican-Canadian reggae artist @excolevi while we were in Toronto this summer 🇯🇲🇨🇦

October is Jamaican Heritage Month 🇯🇲, and it feels like a good time to show some love to some of the Jamaican and Caribbean artists, performers and community members we got to meet, see and share spaces with this summer, starting with @rayzalution 🔥

We caught this talented all-female reggae band from Toronto twice at the A.C.C.E.S.S. Festival this summer, and they were easily one of our favourite performances.

So much talent and energy on that stage. Big up to the whole Rayzolution crew! 🙏🏾

Stay tuned, we met a lot of great people this summer, so we'll be sharing a few more throughout the month! 🇯🇲🌴

Rain couldn’t stop the vibes at the @caribbeandaysfestival Backyard Jam!

Our very own DJ Topaz hit the stage last month for what was originally a 30-minute set, and ended up keeping the music going for over an hour. She was ready! 🙌🏽

One of the things we love about live events is seeing artists and crew rise to the occasion: reading the room, adapting in the moment and keeping the energy going no matter what the day brings.

Huge love to Colin Orie and the Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC @TTCSBC and all the volunteers, vendors and organizers who put so much into an amazing weekend of Caribbean culture, music and community. Even with the rain, the energy throughout the festival was still there.

And the best part? DJ Topaz has already been invited back for next year. 👏🏽🇹🇹

See you in 2027!

A little late for World Steelpan Day (Aug. 11), but with @trinbagotoronto happening this weekend, it feels like a pretty good time to show some steelpan love! 🥁🌴

There’s something about that sound that instantly brings the energy and takes me right back home. I love dancing to it, and love seeing the girls getting a chance to learn and experience it for themselves too.

Wishing the Trinbago Toronto crew an amazing festival!

Red, white… and LIMBO. 🇨🇦🔥

We spent Canada Day celebrating with hundreds of people who came ready to dance, bend, cheer each other on, and prove that limbo has no age limit. From fearless kids to adults with unbelievable flexibility, the energy around the limbo bar was nonstop.

One of our favourite things about limbo is how quickly it brings strangers together. A little music, a little friendly competition, and suddenly everyone’s rooting for each other.

Thanks to the @new_westminster, and everyone who stopped by, danced with us, and made Canada Day such a fun celebration. Until next year… how low can you go?

Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE a parade. 🎶

With or without a limbo bar, I love being right in the middle of the action: dancing, interacting with people, getting them moving and bringing some extra energy to the celebration.

Caribbean Days gave me another chance to do exactly that, and I had such a great time being part of it.

Big love to the Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC @ttcsbc, the entire @caribbeandaysfestival crew, and everyone who showed up and showed out! 🙌🏽🔥

Looking forward to bringing this energy to a lot more parades and festivals in the future.
