This is a garden.

It was planted by many hands and with a lot of heart. Parents and caregivers saw an opportunity to make a transformation and took action. Dozens of plants were donated and easily triple the amount of hours in time were as well.

One household donated stumps that could become the stands for the clay houses. The clay houses were made by the students and staff in classes led by a parent honoring her late artist father.

When the sign arrived that proclaimed the garden a monarch way station, some bittersweet tears were shed. Sally Fisher, an environmental activist in NYC, was deeply moved by the work happening at Limestone. She became a donor and was generous with supplies, seeds, bulbs, and words of affirmation.

Sally took on many monarch projects throughout NYC balancing educating individuals and organizations and leading the creation of way station gardens. It became a hope that as our capacity grew at the school, we could have a way station connecting us to amazing gardeners and activists across North America.

Sally passed away in late 2022. She would have loved this garden, loved that the students will have access and one more thread connecting us to the creatures we share this planet with.

I wonder though, if the thing she would have loved the most would be the way in which it was created. by @limestonecommunityschool

I installed Touch #2, a musical interactive touch wall, as part of a fundraiser for @limestonecommunityschool

Touch #2 is up all this week at 745 New Hampshire in Lawrence KS. Hours are Feb 9-13 3pm-8pm Sat Feb 14th 10am-8pm. Tix are $10 each or $25 for families.

It seems to be a hit with the little ones! :)

A little reminder that Illuminate Love is open all week and worth stopping by!

This immersive art exhibition hosted by @limestonecommunityschool is full of color, connection, and interactive spaces created by local artists and even the school’s amazing students.

We had a blast opening night enjoying the unique spaces and it’s a great activity for both kids and adults! It also has so many fun photo ops along the way.

You can find the exhibition in downtown Lawrence at 8th & New Hampshire and it’s open now through February 14th. All proceeds support financial aid for students at Limestone.
