Hey, some sad news. After eight wonderful years together and planning to get married eventually, Chris made the decision to step away and end the relationship…his choice, not mine.

Please don’t send him any hate. He’s a lovely, loving man and these last eight years were the first loving healthy relationship I’ve ever experienced ☺️ He was nothing but good to me and both of my girls💕 I know that the universe has a plan so I’m trying to just go with the flow, not always easy lol. But I shall always cherish our time together and I know there are better things on the horizon☺️🩷

Teaching art at Liberty House, my daughter’s assisted living. These guys are so awesome! This is my happy place every Monday and Thursday afternoon☺️ Prepping for another craft show in September. Reminder that the memorial for Daddy (Mel Pontious) will be tomorrow (Sunday) Jan 11, 2-5 in the Lodge at Starved Rock State Park….drinks and appetizers and funny stories to celebrate this man’s wonderful life☺️❤️ 🎶 Looking forward to seeing old friends 🥰 by @lindadancer1

Just an update/reminder on Daddy’s memorial…it will be Sunday, January 11
from 2-5, appetizers and drinks, at the Lodge at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, Illinois (very close to LaSalle-Peru). (I’ll include a link at the bottom of this post). Please don’t feel that you have to wear black…this is a celebration of a 94 year old life very well-lived! Karen and I will speak as well as a few others, and anyone else who would like to tell a story etc please feel free!
If you have special photos please dm them to me as I am putting together a slide show. And if there’s a particular piece of music you would like included please send me the name and composer, or just send me the file.

Christmas at my sissy’s and bil’s, so wandered out onto Papa’s deck to see the sunset. Sissy had put his Christmas lights out this year☺️🌅 and I remembered better years and Christmases❤️‍🩹Missing you so much this Christmas Papa💔 and wishing you were here😔 by @lindadancer1

Hardest post I’ve ever had to make, but our beloved Dad and Papa passed quietly on Sunday, Nov 2. 💔Only person I think of who actually just passed from old age, one by one the old parts just giving up.

The smartest person I ever knew, the kindest, and wisest….hard to imagine a world without him, but I know he’s all around us, and so happy to be with Mommy again❤️

We are all left with wonderful memories and lots and lots of pictures and funny stories, so that is a blessing.

He surely shaped my sister’s and my lives but also those of my two girlies, Alyssa and Ashlyn, and touched literally hundreds of lives of his students and fellow teachers.

It’s getting close to the holidays so we are planning a memorial for him in January, back in Illinois where we grew up and he had the most impact, most probably at Starved Rock (thank you @kathycasstevens).

In the meantime we would love any pics you have from the Vienna trip ( just dm me) or others from family (thank you @alicepilram .

I hope we all get some comfort and smiles from these photos (home w me, with family, his military honors from hospice, fishing, and camping❤️‍🩹😇😘

Well, I know I’ve been a ghost on socials since retiring, partly because I was keeping so busy doing art classes and teaching art at my oldest daughter’s assisted living, and I didn’t want this to be my first post….but life works out the way it does. About six months after I moved out here Papa came to live w me because it became obvious that he was beginning to need more care than my still-working sissy could provide.
We have had much fun, much dancing, much art together, many walks, and farm discussions as well as our “musical moments” at catheter time☺️ I am still learning from this old dude👍🏻 and we’ve had discussions about many composers, pieces, and music trivia☺️

But he’s got two kinds of cancer which require multiple appointments/treatments, and he’s cheated death at least twice now (once on his 94th birthday😬) and we’ve decided that once we get this current situation under control we will be putting him on hospice at my house so his calico cat (my traitorous kitty who has decided Papa is her person🤣) can sit with him all day, and we can take the wheelchair our for some nice walks in the warm sun. Our CNA, DeNae Drews, has been a lifesaver over the last year and a half and is now part of the family.

I chose some of my favorite photos of the last year and a half….selfies watching neighborhood fireworks from our patio, helping make treats for the kiddos at Liberty House, making gingerbread houses with DeNae, fishing at his favorite little place here, and just “life” pics. I am so proud of him for how hard he’s fought, and so proud to call him my Daddy🥰❤️ We literally have the best one in the world ☺️ Enjoy the pics of our exciting life at home🤣☺️❤️❤️❤️😇 by @lindadancer1
