Yesterday we launched Beautiful Future as part of Totally Thames Tidesfest at Kew Bridge! “You made my Sunday shine” “Absolutely beautiful” “What you’ve done here today is truly magical” “Wonderful and emotional expression” The work is still in its early ideas, but what a treat to share it with such brilliant audiences on such a gorgeous day! Thanks for watching, joining in, sharing your hopes for the future and dancing with us :) Shout out to our brilliant community cast - you were incredible and achieved so much in such a short time! That’s it for 2026 Beautiful Future…. but it will be back for full creation and outdoortouring in 2027. Get in touch if you’d like to chat about collaborations! Introducing Linden Dance Company’s Cross Regional Youth Exchange project! Back in March, Linden Dance brought together 4 youth companies from across the country to explore dance, creative skills and discuss themes of the future. Hosted at De Montfort University, members from Linden Youth, CAPA College CHARGE, York Youth Dance and Chambers Dance Creatives came together to co create a new piece with Guest Choreographer Monique Jonas, inspired by the idea that hope and joy are our best weapons against the challenges of the world today. The project emerged from Linden Dance’s wider Beautiful Future project which, inspired by Rob Hopkins’ book ‘How to Fall in Love with the Future’, reasons for positivity and hope being paramount in our fight against the climate crisis. The exchange was a dream to find opportunities for young people to connect, create and discuss current societal topics. Over 4 days, the 19 young people took workshops with each of the Group Leaders, had Careers Talks and choreographed an inspiring new work that was premiered at CAPA College’s Amplify festival in June 26. The difference in the young people in confidence, both in dance and in themselves, was astounding and is yet more proof that this nature of exchange, networking and shared community voice is vital for our young people and their development. The hope is that this exchange is the first of it’s kind, and Linden can run similar future exchanges to encourage open dialogues, positive spaces and empowering opportunities for young people. “Beyond brilliant. Watching everyone’s range of skills and techniques was so wonderful as I’ve gained inspiration from so many people for many different reasons. We are exceptionally proud of Linden Youth, who were selected to represent the West Midlands at U.Dance National Festival in Glasgow back in July! Well done Linden Youth 2026, you blow us away! Enjoy them storming the stage with The Unspeakable World: Inspired by the words of philosopher Alan Watts describing the importance of quietness and presence in the face of the chaos of the modern world. Our EMPOWER sessions are back!! We are delighted to be bringing back a year of our EMPOWER sessions: a monthly program of extraordinary training for young people aged 11 - 21 years. Each session involves Afro - Contemporary dance training with Linden Directors Chris & Sara, followed by a visiting Guest Artist session. The workshop will begin with a morning class exploring dynamic phrase work, grounded movement, rhythm and full-bodied physicality, drawing on Linden’s Afro-Contemporary dance style. The workshop will then utilise phrase work and rep from Linden’s new outdoor show, Beautiful Future.
