For SF Climate Week, we hosted our first community impact screening here in Berkeley, California 🏡

We are ecstatic about what came; the community that came together for this, in support of this film and what it represents; in support of the oceans, people, and a better future for this planet.

Oceania isn’t just a film, it is a view into a different way of being; ways that help us to remember.

One of my favorite themes of the film is about time. Kiribati local Charlie goes to study in Fiji and is taught about the concept of ‘time and money’. He shares, ‘I don’t believe in time and money.’ In Kiribati, ‘time’ is told by the tides, the winds. And when we forget about that ‘time’, we disconnect. We suffer.

THANK YOU for everyone who has supported this journey thus far and came out for Climate Week, and THANK YOU to @alchemydream.studio who has dedicated the last 12 years to mothering this work. If you are interested in screening Oceania in your home or near you, please follow the link in bio.

This event helped to support our Kiribati friend and Oceania co-creator Kiribati in her dreams of traveling her atolls to educate with this film. If you would like to contribute to our climate and community resilience work in California or abroad, please follow the link at oceaniathefilm.com

This year, at the International Ocean Film Festival, I had the pleasure of moderating for this panel of people I deeply respect. We bridged the critical importance of film, environment, science, ocean impact, and material innovation — the future we wish to see, a society that works for the health of humans & this planet, with less chemicals, more education, and cleaner everything.

🌊Take a moment to learn about the important work this team does, what a crew!

📕& check out what I find to be one of the most important books of our century! Countdown by Dr. Swan is the most useful guide I've found to understand the chemicals in products around us today, how they affect health & global fertility, and empowering tools to take initiative for individual & societal health.

🎥also look out for Louie Psihoyos and Shanna’s latest film which explores fertility issues associated with plastics through a hopeful lens.

@psihoyos is an amazing filmmaker whose films have included Racing Extinction and Academy-Award winning film The Cove, an early inspiration for my career. He also founded @oceanicpreservationsociety bringing impact to films, reaching 360 million people in a massive campaign bringing light to mass extinction and inspiring folks from NY to the Vatican.

@drshannahswan is a scientist who is changing the way we see health. In the past 50 years, fertility markers are down 50%. And much of this is being linked to the many chemicals in plastics (60,000+), poor regulation, and pesticides. This is without a doubt cause for massive global attention and investment now, and *all* sectors are needed to change this.

@juliajmarsh is one of those change-makers. Her company @swaythefuture is replacing plastic with kelp, while supporting kelp farmers and shifting industry standards. Check out her Forbes article, and if you're a business who sells products, consider switching over to Sway.

@instakahi is Director of Parley Hawaii & much more. He spoke to his work bringing education to thousands, cleaning up, & inspiring change as well as our global work we've done together across the globe.

Thx @intloceanfilmfest for hosting us, and for all you do! & @brigittechanel for 📸! taken in Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture by @lindseagordon

Today I start work on a new and expanding mangrove restoration project.

Mangroves make up critical forests for our ecosystem, people, and climate. A mangrove forest is called a mangal, and they are have been on the decline due to agriculture, coastal development, cattle ranching, and some forms of aquaculture.

Mangroves sequester up to ten times more carbon than terrestrial forests.

They protect our coastlines from erosion, shelter us from storms and tidal waves. They act as natural sea walls.
They nourish fish populations, provide fish homes, act as fish nurseries, raising little ones to become strong for the open sea.

They provide livelihood opportunities for coastal communities; when mangroves thrive, so do artisanal fishermen.

Their windy branches give us joy, a playful and calm ocean jungle gym.

They have complex mechanisms that make them unique from any other trees on this planet; they are magical wondrous life forms; they are the only trees that are resilience to saltwater. They teach us resiliency.

Excited to be a voice for the mangroves, trees that first captured my heart during my studies in the Galapagos nearly 15 years ago. Do you have any sweet mangrove memories? by @lindseagordon

The Sun Valley Forum #SVF2026 was one of the most thought provoking, community building, nature-connective weeks I’ve had in a while 🤗🥹

Thank you to the #SVF team and all 200+ thinkers, leaders, and eco-stewards who came together to share stories, successes, challenges, and concepts for a better future. Together we explored themes ranging from dam removal in Idaho to save the salmon to the blue economy to reclaiming of land and culture. We connected with nature by ways of river rafting and visiting Red Lake, named after the color of the lake - once full with salmon, and last year, they counted only one.

I had the honor of speaking on the power of Grassroots Environmental Leadership in it’s many forms Mike Sutton who shared of Goldman Environmental Prize winners myriad of successes and the challenges they face. I spoke on the power of going local; supporting direct to community and as local as possible, and listening to and supporting those lesser-heard voices who do the work behind the scenes every day. Grassroots Environmental Leaders are those building movements, and they are also the teachers, the mothers, and the everyday person taking time after work to organize a small group to make a change in their locality. Through supporting and recognizing the most local of efforts, we are supporting a more localized global world, where the power is with, people. I offered 3 ways of nourishing a more local world to the forum: 1. Can you support someone *directly* doing good work in their community. 2. When you travel, can you choose a home stay and locally owned restaurant over chain-operated? 3. Can you get to know your locale even more, those doing great work in your own backyard, and meet them just as yourself?

Hope comes in many forms. The community that came together is one of them 🌷

Thank you @sunvalleyforum for having me. taken in Sun Valley, Idaho by @lindseagordon

⛵️A wonderful evening at SF’s South Beach Yacht Club. & a delight to speak about the coastal issues, and the community-oriented solutions, we are facing here in the Bay with the stellar @isabelngeh and @sf_bcdc — who live and breathe the everyday happenings of our waters.

This community lights me up, and something magical happens when we come together to safeguard Home. Thank you to SF Blue Tech and @sbyc_sf for continuing to bring this community together! taken in South Beach Yacht Club by @lindseagordon
