Lana, her brother, and her father were martyred by Israhell this weekend.
I’m asking you to please invest in mutual aid.
I’m asking you to recognize your defensiveness and transition to guilt.
I’m asking you to turn your guilt and sadness in to action.
We have been manipulated in to thinking individualism and comfort are superior to mutual aid and vulnerability.
There is no one coming to save us- we take care of each other - we keep each other safe.
Please contribute to her family.

Happy birthday to one of my favorite humans! @milly_malpass you are the epitome of Libra energy and the kind of neighbor Mr. Rogers would be proud of.

So grateful for your advocacy, leadership & disarming warmth and kindness!

You are a teaching artist of so many skills and you make the world a more beautiful place to exist in.

I’m sorry I didn’t get around to posting this before our mending the fabric of democracy event.. @snugglymonkey thank you for helping that event be that magic that it was! by @lindsep

Hey! You know what’s cool—- essential services, like public schools, libraries, local hospitals, fire & rescue/ EMS, housing & shelter, trash services, road repairs, etc.

UNFORTUNATELY, these things aren’t free, so our taxes are used to pay for them. I know the amendments sound good, but often things that sound too good to be true, are just in fact too good to be true. Regular people will not benefit from limiting property tax revenue, but you know who will—- wealthy businesses, like Duke energy. (Just do a little googling, it’s late and my four year is still awake, so I don’t have time to put all the facts out here).

Follow some of these smart NC people — they can explain this far better than I can.

@lindsep thank you for these cute coloring sheets. I put my daughter to work today coloring them so we can hand them out to tomorrow.

Thank you Wake Council PTA president, Marie Dexter, for taking a moment to explain what to expect on the ballot this election cycle, how each item will impact our public schools, and what school PTAs/PTSAs can do about it!

We have a living document that is being updated by local advocates with resources and easy steps you can follow to take action in your school! - keep us posted on your progress! by @lindsep

This morning, Raleigh City Council held public comments in response to a proposed teen curfew that would ban youth from going out at night, as well as a moratorium on AI data centers.

Tonight, at the Wake County Public School System Board Meeting, local advocates will be able to provide public comment on two new rules impacting students: one related to a law passed by the NCGA on religous studies, and the other on extremist book bans #ncpol by @lindsep

“What does it mean to mend? For most people it means to repair, patch or rebuild… and it’s also about the activity and utility of mending, through intention and necessity, to make something useful again.” -Arounna Khounnoraj

Our government at its best functions as a useful safety blanket for some, while for others it feels threadbare.

Policy and politics will continue to impact our lives even when we try to throw off that blanket. Let’s learn how to patch together something useful with what we have, and improve our living conditions while we continue a bigger fight for liberation for all.

We are hosting an event to learn more about how our local government works and what’s at stake with the amendments and bond on Wake County ballots.

You’ll leave empowered with information and a plan for voting, and we’ll teach you how to use a simple mending technique to patch up something you love! Everyone will get one of these bags with a hand printed patch, some tools, buttons, and more.

If you’re interested in coming please reach out! Space is limited and it’s going to be worth your time✨

This event is
Saturday Oct. 3 from 3-5pm in Southern Wake County by @lindsep

“The paradox of education is precisely this — that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which he is being educated. The purpose of education, finally, is to create in a person the ability to look at the world for himself, to make his own decisions, to say to himself this is black or this is white, to decide for himself whether there is a God in heaven or not. To ask questions of the universe, and then learn to live with those questions, is the way he achieves his own identity. But no society is really anxious to have that kind of person around. What societies really, ideally, want is a citizenry which will simply obey the rules of society. If a society succeeds in this, that society is about to perish. The obligation of anyone who thinks of himself as responsible is to examine society and try to change it and to fight it — at no matter what risk. This is the only hope society has. This is the only way societies change.”
-James Baldwin

This project was requested by a teacher at our neighborhood public elementary school and I was honored to gift it to her. 💛
