One investigator. Four months undercover. Getting in was the easy part. #MarshmallowsAreTheirFavorite #newbook #animaltesting #undercoverinvestigation by @lindsoliver
It's here!! Until now, this book has been something I've been working on quietly behind the scenes. Today, I'm so excited that I finally get to introduce you to Marshmallows Are Their Favorite: Undercover at a Primate Lab! Huge thank you to the amazing and incredibly talented Kay Lapper, who designed the cover and the entire layout, which is a massive undertaking. Thank you, Kay, for capturing the heart of this story so beautifully. I’m very grateful for all of the time and care you put into bringing this to life in a way I never could have. 🥹 And now for the other big news: Pre-orders are officially LIVE! Which means you can order the book today(!) before it releases on October 6th. Pre-orders matter a ton. It's one of the most helpful things you can do to support the book before it comes out and to help these stories reach more people. You can also read more about the book at lindsayoliver.com I've been working on this book for far too many years now, so even though it's scary to share, I'm glad their stories are finally being told. While I know this is a heavy topic, I intentionally wrote it so that it doesn't feel like you're just reading sad stories of monkeys in cages. From the beginning, I never wanted it to be that type of book. I weave in what it was like to work undercover (messy hidden cameras and all), how I—as someone who gets grossed out by hotel comforters—managed to work in an environment like that, and the surprising relationships I built with the monkeys but also the humans. It definitely has my weird personality in it as well, sorry haha. Thanks so much to all of you who have supported me along this very long journey. I can only hope I've done these stories justice and that they find their way to as many people as possible because they deserve to be heard. Not for me. For them. And maybe one day, even in some small way, this helps change the future for animals in labs. 🐒 🩷 by @lindsoliver
Sending everyone a little marshmallow cheers for helping us surpass 100 bags of marshmallows! 🎉 We still have an ambitious 896 bags to go to reach our goal of 1,000! Help us keep the momentum going! ▫️ 🐒 💙 by @lindsoliver
What an absolutely heart wrenching but beautiful book. Everyone needs to read it- but I have to say 😭😭😭😭😭. @lindsoliver by @lindsoliver
We’re almost at 100 bags of our 1,000 goal! ▫️🐒 We’re sending 1,000 bags of marshmallows for monkeys at the seven US National Primate Research Centers. Here are just a few of the beautiful messages people have shared. 💙 Thank you so much to everyone who has participated so far! And don't worry if you haven't joined, we still have 910 bags to go! Together these messages send a powerful reminder that people haven't forgotten about the monkeys still inside these labs, and that we're calling for a different future for them. Write a note and send a bag or send a note for free. And yes, the marshmallows are vegan! Small treat. Bigger message. #SendMarshmallows #ForTheOnesStillInside #Primates #AnimalTesting by @lindsoliver
Welp, looks like the primate research industry isn't loving my book. 😏 Their one-star Amazon reviews have arrived! Thanks for noticing though 💅 If you've read Marshmallows Are Their Favorite and resonated with it, I'd be so grateful if you shared your thoughts in an Amazon review! Every review helps these stories reach more people. 💙🐒 by @lindsoliver

Wow!!! 52 bags of marshmallows purchased already and 20 notes written! Thank you to everyone who has bought a bag (or more!), written a note, or shared Send Marshmallows. 💙 We’re working toward 1,000 bags for monkeys at the seven US National Primate Research Centers. In addition to marshmallows, each delivery will include your message and a letter asking the labs to begin transitioning monkeys to sanctuary and shifting toward human-based science. Send a bag, write a note, or submit a message for free at SendMarshmallows.com. Every share helps reach more people and bring awareness for the monkeys. 🐒💙🙌 #SendMarshmallows #ForTheOnesStillInside #AnimalTesting #MarshmallowsAreTheirFavorite by @lindsoliver

October 6, 2026 is finally here! It’s been a very long and emotional journey and I’m excited to share three things: 1. My book Marshmallows Are Their Favorite: Undercover at a Primate Lab is officially out today! It’s the true story about the four months I spent working undercover at one of only seven US National Primate Research Centers. You’ll get to meet the monkeys, the workers, and learn about the complicated reality of being a spy. It’s far less James Bond and far more dingy hotels and microwave pasta. I’ve spent way too many years writing, rewriting, obsessing, “perfecting,” and building everything for this moment. It feels super surreal, but I hope their stories will resonate and inspire change 🩷 Writing the book didn’t feel like enough. I really wanted to do everything I could to help the monkeys’ stories reach more people. So… 2. I’m launching Send Marshmallows! In honor of the primates still in labs today, and in memory of those who never made it out, Send Marshmallows is a campaign collecting 1,000 bags of mini marshmallows and handwritten notes for monkeys at the seven US National Primate Research Centers. The marshmallows are a small treat while the campaign asks for more: a life beyond the lab. And lastly, because I wanted to create something special for the monkeys… 3. I made a small number of limited-edition book boxes! These include a signed hardcover book, Omelet the plush monkey (who you’ll meet in the book!), and a collection of items I custom designed for the launch to help them and their stories be remembered 💙 These things don’t happen overnight. It has taken me many years to create and put all of this together. As an undercover investigator, being invisible was part of my job. So these monkeys deserve a voice louder than mine can ever be - they need yours. Please read, share, send a bag, and help the world meet Omelet, Mango, Bo, Ralph, Scarlet, and the rest. Thank you 🩷 #MarshmallowsAreTheirFavorite #Memoir #SendMarshmallows #Primates #AnimalTesting #ForTheOnesStillInside by @lindsoliver
Excited that my copy of @lindsoliver’s book, Marshmallows Are Their Favorite, arrived! I knew of Lindsay’s important work when I served as HSUS’s Arizona State Director, and I deeply respected her commitment to animals. I was especially glad when we had the opportunity to meet and become friends. Lindsay is a fiercely compassionate animal warrior—and now, an author! Her book shares her experiences, including her work undercover inside one of only seven U.S. national primate research centers, and sheds light on the realities of animal research and the cruelty that can exist behind closed doors. I especially appreciate Lindsay’s commitment to bringing attention to the dark corners where animals need advocates most, while also sharing the very real human stories that exist within those same walls. Looking forward to reading her courageous story! 💙🐒. Check it out: https://lindsayoliver.com/ by @lindsoliver
