On our anniversary, I’m reflecting on how 10 years ago, when I was young & a little bit of a mess, I met this boy. Life took us in different directions, then several years and a few mistakes later, we reconnected. I like to think of it as I had a lot of growing up to do before I deserved a love like his, but he’ll probably roll his eyes at me saying that. I wish I could time travel and get those 10 years back, but I’m grateful we made our way back to each other when we did. Getting a little sappy, but I truly didn’t know a love like this actually existed.

I’ve never felt so excited to wake up every day knowing I get to wake up next to you. I’ve never felt so safe, yet so alive. I’ve never felt so incredibly loved, encouraged, and respected. I am so proud of you for who you are. I will love you and choose you every day. 🥹

I usually hate every picture someone else takes of me. I pick apart every crooked part of my chubby cheeked face, any flab on my arms or legs, and so much more.

But little me would just be so happy that I’m happy, sitting across from the love of my life, who made this his phone background because he loves it so much.

I feel so silly, and honestly so sad, that the first thoughts I had about this cute picture were negative and nit-picky. Society’s standards, marketing, and social media have rewired our brains (especially women) to think we always have something we need to fix about ourselves.

I wish I would’ve figured out before my 30s that being healthy, happy, and genuinely me is way more fun. And when I’m older, I’ll look back and see that smiley, goofy, adventurous girl instead of picking apart how I looked.

Anyway, this is me at my happiest. Sipping a yummy cocktail, eating my favorite thing ever (oysters), and sitting across from my best friend 💚 by @lindssips

Stayed in the cutest little forest wonderland cabin, found all of the shroomies, touched all the moss, hugged all the trees, & explored my favorite trail with my favorite human. taken in Red River Gorge Geological Area by @lindssips
