Position before submission. If you've trained with us, you've heard it a hundred times. That's what's happening in this session at Lineage BJJ in California, Maryland. One student maintains dominant position while their partner practices framing, escaping, and staying calm under pressure. This is the heart of grappling: learning to think clearly when the pressure is real. Mastering these movements takes patient, technical repetition. The good news? You don't need experience to start. Our beginner Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program teaches adults the fundamentals step by step, from positions and escapes to practical self-defense rooted in the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu tradition. All you need is consistency, humility, and a willingness to learn. What training builds: ✔ Technical skill against strength and size ✔ Improved fitness and conditioning ✔ Confidence under pressure ✔ Teammates who help you improve With the holidays approaching, now is a great time to start a routine. Students join us from Great Mills, Lusby, Pax River, and across St. Mary's County—many with no martial arts background. Curious about jiu jitsu? Come watch a class at Lineage BJJ and see the work up close. by @lineagebjj
There's a moment in every roll when technique quietly takes over and strength stops mattering. That's the heart of jiu jitsu. At Lineage BJJ in California, Maryland, students learn to solve problems on the mat the right way: position first, then control, then the finish. Whether it's a white gi or blue, the lesson is the same. Leverage, timing, and patience beat force every time. It's why BJJ works for people of all sizes, and why beginners with zero martial arts experience can start right where they are and build real skill through consistent training. What live grappling rounds teach over time: 👉 Positional control and escapes that actually hold up under pressure 👉 Practical self defense rooted in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu 👉 Problem-solving, composure, and resilience 👉 Respect for your training partners, because nobody improves alone As the year winds down, a lot of folks around Lexington Park, Hollywood, and across Southern Maryland are looking for something more meaningful than another gym membership. Adult martial arts classes at our academy offer structured coaching, a clean and professional facility, and a team culture that pushes you without ego. Lineage Schedule for November!! Come flow with me! by @lineagebjj
Every class at Lineage BJJ starts the same way: together, on the mat, warming up before the real work begins. Those first few minutes of stretching and movement matter more than most people realize. At our academy in California, Maryland, you'll see adults of different ages and backgrounds training side by side, because BJJ is built on technique and leverage, not size or athleticism. Beginners are always welcome, and no previous martial arts experience is required to get started. What students gain from consistent training: • Practical self defense skills rooted in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu • Improved mobility, fitness, and body awareness • Discipline and resilience that carry into everyday life • A welcoming community of training partners November is a great time to build a steady routine before the holiday season hits. Good coaching is easy to spot. Watch a class where the instructor sees a mistake before the student even feels it, and you know the room is in good hands. That's the standard we hold at Lineage BJJ in California, Maryland. During live grappling rounds and drilling, our coaching team stays on the mat, watching positions, correcting details, and helping students understand why a technique works instead of just memorizing steps. Whether you're brand new to BJJ or an experienced grappler, that kind of attention is what turns repetition into real skill. A few things you'll notice in our classes: • Structured instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu • Practical self defense principles built into every lesson • Training partners who work hard and respect each other • A clean, professional environment where safety comes first As we head toward the end of October, plenty of people around Southern Maryland are getting back into routine before the holidays.
