For en dag dette var på Henie Onstad med Ultimafestivalen 2026, Nagelhus Schia Productions og Rud elevene fra danselinjene! Spennende og vakre opplevelser for øye og øret! Takk for at jeg fikk være med å designe kostymer og takk for stor hjelp av @bycarocrafts for nydelig søm av kostymene til danserne ved NSP.

Culture and art programme project example: Čitna Báffa

Snowmobile tracks sway from floor to ceiling like the northern lights, while floating objects of metal, leather, grass and twigs form a universe suspended between harmony and tension. Čitna Báffa is an interdisciplinary work by Sámi visual artist @maretannesara and choreographer @alexandrawingate, bringing together visual art, choreography, movement and sound. The work explores an existential tension between an outer life shaped by Western industrial society and capitalism, and an inner world grounded in Sámi philosophy and Indigenous knowledge.

The artistic exploration began with SuoidneKaboom (2023) and developed into the performance Čitna Báffa and the exhibition Háhtešeatni doali dádjadit, exploring how visual art and performing arts interact and transform one another through the dialogue between artworks, living bodies and movement.

Rooted in Sámi and Arctic contexts, the project brings together Nordic artists and highlights Sámi perspectives. Čitna Báffa and Háhtešeatni doali dádjadit were presented at Festspillene i Nord-Norge, while SuoidneKaboom was performed at Riddu Riđđu, Suialaa Art Festival, Sámi Dáiddaguovddáš and Sámi Beassášmárkanat.

SuoidneKaboom was collectively co-created by @maretannesara, @anjasaiva, @anittakatriina, @litaigas and @alexandrawingate.

Čitna Báffa: Artistic direction and visual art by Máret Ánne Sara, choreography by Alexandra Wingate and Máret Ánne Sara, performance by Anja Saiva Bongo Bjørnstad, @inadokmo and Anitta Katriina Suikkari. Ongoing performance installation by Ina Dokmo and @ulu.olsen , sound design by @kristinehansenofficial and costumes by @linemaher.

Both works were produced by Alexandra Wingate, with SuoidneKaboom co-produced by Dáiddadállu Sámi Artist Network and Čitna Báffa by Festspillene i Nord-Norge.

Fredag 3.juli skal Frikars forestilling Voluspå vises på Førdefestivalen!! Så mange utrolig spennende mennesker å få jobbe med, så mye positivitet,
fagdyktighet og tålmodighet..ja for det tok en stund å få disse kostymene ferdig 😊, så mange ting å få riktig så alt ser ut som jeg har tenkt, men samtidig fungerer praktisk for hver utøver. En perle av en utfordring!

Takk for at jeg fikk være med på reisen og tvi tvi i Førde! ❤️

Frå gamle norrøne ord veks ei verd fram av kropp, rytme, lyd, figurar og kraftfulle bilete.

Med folkedans, sirkus, levande musikk og figurteater gir FRIKAR nytt liv til Voluspå — eit dikt om skaping, lagnad og alt som heng saman.

Urpremiere: @baerumkulturhus 10. juni kl. 19.00, som del av @heddadagene og @gofigure_oslo !
Neste framsyning: @fordefestival 3. juli kl. 16.00.

VOLUSPÅ is moving toward its world premiere.

From ancient Norse words, a world grows through bodies, rhythm, sound, figures and powerful stage images.

With folk dance, circus arts, live music and puppetry, FRIKAR gives new life to Voluspå — a poem of creation, fate and the connections between all things.

Posted @withregram • @animalarium_collective Čitna Báffa — a new work by artist Máret Ánne Sara — premiered on 21 June at the Arctic Arts Festival in Harstad. The work is part of a trilogy, and the second part will open at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall in London on 13 October 2025.

The creation process included a research workshop with the Choreo-Constellating practice, led by Liv Schellander and Alexandra Wingate of the Animalarium Dance Collective, to explore themes of Čitna Báffa. The piece is choreographed by Alexandra and Máret Ánne Sara.

“The scooter belts are a natural part of my external life, but on an almost unconscious inner level, they confront me radically. They were a foreign, ambiguous help for my grandparents, an attractive tool for my parents and for me it is natural and a prerequisite for being connected to the landscape, nature and animals. A link to my culture and cosmos, both material and immaterial, at the same time a powerful physical separation between me as a breathing, feeling and thinking human being in contact and dialogue with the living symbiosis I have been taught to understand to live in, between the landscape, animals and surroundings.” (Máret Ánne Sara)
