Let‘s have a tea party 🫖 Made by @lineofpiers Vocaloid Sound Engineer @ondeasangnam --- Reworlding Reworlding brings together seven Asian female media artists who treat virtuality, technology, and digital systems not as glossy, seamless futures, but as worlds that must be continually rebuilt, patched, mourned, or misused. Across sound, sculpture, games, video, and virtual reality, the works in this group exhibition pry open technological shells, revealing AI voices that collapse under pressure, avatars turned inside out, machines that demand care, infrastructures haunted by superstition, and virtual cities populated by those left behind. Curated by Debbie Ding, Reworlding attends to the unseen labour, rituals, failures, and forms of care that sustain these virtual worlds. Line of Piers (South Korea) Bishoujo Does Not Incarnate 2024-2025 Interactive real-time simulation, custom access controller, single-play Bishoujo Does Not Incarnate is a playable work that dissects the familiar bishoujo (美少女 or ‘beautiful girl’) avatar popularised in the social gaming platform VRChat and turns it inside out. Through humour and absurdity, the game peels back the bishoujo's smiling, glossy skin to reveal its skeleton and hollow interior. Played using a custom-modded PlayStation controller, the game forges new and unexpected connections between player and avatar parts, while simultaneously disrupting immersion in the virtual body. Interwoven conversations between characters reflect on the materiality of the virtual avatar and the strange history of the bishoujo icon. By foregrounding the virtual avatar’s artificial anatomy, Line of Piers interrogates the tension and strange intimacy that come from inhabiting virtual bodies. @lineofpiers Line of Piers is an artist collective founded in 2023 by Sanghee and Seonghun. They have collaborated on the interactive VR works Oneroom-Babel, Worlding···, and the conversational game Bugs of Nostalgia. All three works explored spaces that are inscribed with shared emotions and stories. The collective was formed to expand their research on the physical sensation of space, and the spatialisation of the body. They also seek to reference subcultures that accelerate the imagination of interactivity. In addition to exhibiting interactive works, they continue to question which parts of our bodies and senses are stimulated as exhibitions are created. 2024 ACC 크리에이터스 레지던시의 오픈스튜디오 《인공지능‧인간‧다중우주》에서 교각들은 인터랙티브 리얼타임 시뮬레이션 <미소녀는 수육受肉하지 않는다>를 선보입니다. <미소녀는 수육受肉하지 않는다>는 견딜 수 없는 몸을 우회하는 통로로서 3D 미소녀 모델링을 탐색합니다. 관객은 한떄 VR챗 커뮤니티의 아바타로 작동했던 미소녀들이 점점이 흩어진 온라인 폐허를 누빌 수 있습니다. 무게 없는 신체 기관들을 유비하는 인터페이스와 상호 작용하면서, 가능했을지도 모를 우정과 대안적 역할 놀이의 흔적을 더듬기를 바랍니다. At ACC Creators Residency 2024 open studio 《Artificial Intelligence‧Human‧Multiverse》, Line of piers presents the interactive real-time simulation <Bishoujo does not incarnate>. The work explores 3D bishoujo modeling serving as a passage to bypass the intolerable body. Audiences can wander through online ruins dotted with bishoujos who once served as avatars for the VR chat community. By interacting with an interface that alludes weightless bodily organs, we hope audiences to trace the intimate friendships and alternative role-plays that might have been possible. by @lineofpiers
