We first discovered @ling_lings_ when Jenny was in residence at The Gun, and have been fans ever since. Seeing her at Godet - Sylvain Bertozzi's wine pub on Essex Road, and his follow-up to @binch_london - felt like a very good match up.

We had the loveliest chat with both Sylvain and Jenny on our visit - two people who are genuinely wonderful hosts. Jenny has also just announced that her infamous Sunday Roast is back so don't miss out on that - it really is something special.

WE ARE BRINGING BACK SUNDAY ROAST … There’s a lot to organise this week but we will have a soft launch this Sunday but from the 27th every Sunday will be Sunday roasts 🖤 that also means Sichuan tofu hash browns with fish roe are back tooooooooo yay!!!!

Added some BTS photos of roast but I couldn’t really include the ones where we felt the pain lol.

Owww as if I didn’t post our very lovely pop up with @metchamatcha_london. We had the best time with Naomi in the kitchen. Had the pleasure of spending time with you and learning we have so much in common. Both feeders, grew up in restaurants & love a chinwag. Naomi’s tempura is the best. So favourful you don’t even need the dipping sauce - the floppiest softest with a crunch king prawns tempura. It’s a thing of beauty. We should collab again!! 😘😘😘 taken in Godet London by @ling_lings_

UNFORTUNATELY THE BBQ IS NOW CANCELLED 🤕

Soooo as we are edging away to the end of summer we are going to throw a little day time BBQ luncheon. We will be serving up some Vietnamese noodle bowl in collaboration with @twoflintsbrewery. Think marinated meats with the beer OW. Come and join us OW X

Reminiscing about the best lunch I’ve ever been invited too! Hosted by @codigo1530_uk and cooked by the most talented @mexicanfoodmemories & @helensgraham. It was a vegetarian Mexican feast - the veggies practically sang out loud which is a weird thing to say but that’s what it was like. Karla’s beautiful mole which took 12 hours to make was a triumph. Each cocktail complimented each dish perfectly and to top it all off we got to enjoy the penthouse at Athos hotel. It felt like my hen do party like I was marrying myself! Thank you so much again for this incredible experience and I got to share with it with my friends x by @ling_lings_

OK let’s try again. SO SORRY we had to pull the post cos of technicals .. it’s so bloody annoying but it is what it is.

WE ARE DOING AN ONE OFF SUNDAY ROAST. YAYYYYY I’ve been talking about it for long enough I know you’ve wanted it but I kept putting it off cos that means I’ll be back on potato peeling duties.

SUNDAY 31st May. You book in the bio via @godetlondon. We are doing time slots from 1pm, 3pm and 5pm and doing a set menu which you can book your roast ahead of time as our tiny kitchen can’t handle à la carte.

Looking forward to see you there!! See us sweating behind that pass cos oooooo it’s gonna be a hard shift. I’ve never done a roast without listening to our own music playing in the kitchen and singing/screaming to get through the shift before owwww x

Dreaming of the wontons and matcha tiramisu 🥟 one of the quickest edits I’ve turned around after eating a Sunday lunch at @ling_lings_ today! I’ve tried to get a table for their famous Sunday roasts (but it gets booked out so quickly!) and I can’t believe it’s taken me THIS long to finally try Jenny and Shep’s food but it’s well worth the wait.

As always, unless clearly stated, I’m a happy paying customer! As a full time food and travel creator, firmly believe that we should put our money where our mouth is (literally) and support locally-owned independent places as much as possible! I then shout out the ones I love the most on my feed! :))

Taking inspiration from Jenny’s Cantonese and Vietnamese upbringing (also a fellow takeaway kid!) the changing menu has a “no rules” approach to modern pan-Asian flavours encompassing well loved flavours from Cantonese, Sichuan, Vietnamese and Korean cuisine with a twist. Expect lots of texture, lots of umami and comfort home-style cooking (big big big portions).

@ling_lings_ is the latest residency to take over Islington wine pub @godetlondon, a Cantonese-inspired supper club specialising in contemporary Chinese cooking.

Islington locals and beyond have quickly fallen in love with Jenny Phung’s family-style food - and we can see why. This charming wine bar offers a cool, low-key setting to enjoy some of the most exciting Chinese cookery in the capital right now. We’re talking:

🔸Bavette steak with wasabi beetroot
🔸Crunchy fried pork and water chestnut wontons
🔸Gochujang cauliflower with black bean chilli oil
🔸Glass skin chicken with shimeji mushrooms

Godet also comes with a great craft beer selection, curated wine list and vinyl sound system - all the ingredients for a romantic date night.

YEAR OF THE HORSE is literally a few more days away and we will be celebrating with a CNY inspired menu for the weekend of 20/21/22. We’ll be changing up the menu and MY PARENTS will be cooking some of the meats - corn fed soy sauce chicken & red braised pork belly.

We also have @lilwongbakes doing the desserts!!! Her famed pandan sando will be making an appearance and a pineapple tart with cold creme anglaise.

Honestly the photo alone makes us look like a family (lol) cos this menu will be cooked with so much love and with such family spirit cos how else do you celebrate the New Year?

And finally we have our CNY tees aswell. Designed by OUR FAVE @louujenkins 🖤 He always always always get my need to goth up anything basically! These will be available to buy toooo 💥💥💥

And @ed.mac__ for the WONDERFUL POSTER!! Talk about keeping it in the family!! Love the fact he messaged me about a tee & got roped into designing this bloody lovely poster lol 💚💚💚💚💚
