Our Man of Titanium 🦾❤️

On 5 August, Niël underwent a nine-hour surgery to remove the bone affected by osteosarcoma and reconstruct his arm with titanium. Thankfully, his arm was saved with no nerve damage.

Then, on 21 September, we received the news we had been praying for: the cancer was successfully removed, with no cancer cells found in the surrounding margins. ❤️

Niël still has some chemotherapy and recovery ahead, but we’re incredibly grateful for how far he has come.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, prayed for, checked in on, and stood by Niël and our family throughout this journey. It means more than we can say. ❤️ by @linnezeeman

UPDATE: 🎗️
My chemotherapy journey officially began on Monday, 9 March 2026, with my first treatment at the Cape Gate Oncology Centre
My treatment plan consists of six 5-week cycles:
• Week 1: Chemotherapy at the oncology centre (Day 1–3)
• Weeks 2–3: Recovery period
• Week 4: Chemotherapy in ICU at Cape Gate Mediclinic (Day 22–26)
• Week 5: Chemotherapy in ICU at Cape Gate Mediclinic (Day 29–33)
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to my treatment campaign. Every single donation, no matter the size, is making a real difference in helping me cover the costs. Each 5-week cycle costs approximately R187,000, including medication, oncology care, ICU stays, and blood tests.
After my first week of treatment, I experienced some difficult side effects and had to be admitted to hospital for a few days so my body could recover from the intensity of the chemotherapy.
However, I also have some encouraging news: the osteosarcoma in my left upper arm has already shrunk by 2 cm since treatment began. This gives me real hope and confidence that the chemotherapy is working.
The current plan is to complete two 5-week cycles and then reassess. If the tumour has shrunk sufficiently, surgery to remove it is planned for around week 11. This procedure is estimated to cost around R350,000, although the final amount is still to be confirmed.
Some days are harder than others. Some days I feel strong, and other days I feel completely drained. But I am holding on to hope, taking it one step at a time, and trusting the process.
Thank you for walking this road with me. I will keep sharing my journey as I continue this fight.
I truly believe God is walking this road with me, especially on the days when I feel at my weakest.
To everyone who has supported me – through prayers, messages, or donations – thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your love and kindness are carrying me more than you know.
I’m taking this one day at a time, holding on to faith, and staying hopeful for what lies ahead.

Thank you again,
Niël by @linnezeeman

My brother has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer).
We're taking things one day at a time.
There's a BackaBuddy link attached in my bio for anyone who would like to support.
Sharing it helps just as much
