New pedal day!

The Keeley Compressor Plus has finally arrived and found its place on my pedalboard.
I’ve been curious about this one for quite a while, and now it’s time to find out what it can really do in my setup.

First impression: it’s definitely more subtle than the compressor I was using before – especially with high-gain sounds. But switching to my Strat with single coils, I can already hear what it’s doing: a little more punch, control and definition without taking over my sound.
And I think that’s exactly the point. Sometimes the best pedal isn’t the one you immediately hear – it’s the one you miss when you switch it off. 😉

Still experimenting with the settings, but so far I really like where this is going. The pedalboard keeps evolving… and somehow I have a feeling it’s not finished yet. 😂

I honestly didn’t expect this much of a difference.

I’m still testing, rewiring and learning how the Sentry reacts to my different guitars, but especially with the single coils in my LTD, the result surprised me.
The noise is gone. But the tone isn’t. The attack is still there. The sustain is still there. And for the first time, I really feel like I can hear the character of my pickups the way I expected them to sound.
That’s always been my problem with noise gates: turn them up enough to kill the noise and they start killing the guitar too. This one doesn’t feel like that. It removes what I don’t want and leaves the important part alone.

Still experimenting. Still listening.
But so far… I’m seriously impressed.

My old Flying V.
I’ve had this guitar since the 90s, and after all these years, it’s still my favorite.
Not because it’s perfect.
Not because it’s expensive.
And definitely not because it’s new.
It’s because this guitar has been with me through so many chapters of my life. Back when music was everything. Through difficult years when I thought I might never play again.
And now, through a completely new beginning here in Austria.
For a long time, I was almost afraid to touch anything on it. I always thought: “This guitar deserves a professional.” But lately, I’ve realized something:
Nobody can decide how this guitar should sound better than I can.
A guitar builder can repair it.
A guitar builder can improve it.
But only the player knows the sound he’s chasing.
So this is my next project. Checking the electronics.
Fixing the switch. Adjusting the pickups.
Giving this old warrior the care it deserves.
And who knows…
Maybe one day it’ll get a new set of pickups.
But one thing will never change:
This guitar still has that dirty, raw, unapologetic rock’n’roll character that made me fall in love with it all those years ago.

One day, this guitar will belong to my daughter.
Not because it’s valuable. But because it carries memories, stories, and a piece of our family’s history.

Some guitars are instruments. Others become part of your story. 🎸

A few years ago, I wasn’t sure if I would ever play guitar again. After serious health problems, losing control over parts of my body and spending months with little to no feeling in my left arm, music seemed very far away.
Today I watched this short clip of myself playing and had to sit down for a moment. Not because it’s perfect.
Not because there are no mistakes. But because I remember a time when this wasn’t possible at all.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped me on this journey:
my family, my physiotherapists, the people who pushed me not to give up, my guitar teacher Bernd Kiltz, and musicians who inspired me to keep moving forward.

A special thank you to Kelly Kereliuk. Not only for being an incredible guitarist and musician, but also for being a genuinely kind and inspiring person.

Still learning.
Still practicing.
Still grateful.

🎸❤️

Small pedalboard update.
Still a work in progress, and yes… cable management will happen eventually 😅
But right now I’m really happy with how everything is coming together. One of my best recent additions is the blue Sonicake Buffer ABY pedal. It may not be the most exciting pedal on the board, but it completely changed my workflow. With a single click I can switch between playing through my Hughes & Kettner amp and going straight into my AXE I/O interface to use the Hughes & Kettner Coreblade plugin. No more unplugging and reconnecting cables every time I want to switch setups. Simple idea. Huge quality-of-life improvement.
The board is still evolving, a few more additions are planned, but for now I’m having a lot of fun experimenting, learning and chasing new sounds.

What are the essential pedals on your board?

The blue Sonicake pedal has been a game changer for my setup. If you’d like to know more about it or any of the other gear, you’ll find everything linked in my bio.

Sometimes it’s the little things that bring back the excitement.
The EMGs are finally installed.
Now it’s time for fresh strings, a little graphite on the nut and bridge for better tuning stability, some fine adjustments… and then testing everything on the other guitars too.
And yes… I’m really looking forward to trying out the new blue “friend” afterwards 😄💙
What I love about guitar playing is that you never stop experimenting, learning and refining your own sound.
Every small change can inspire you in a completely new way.
That’s the fun part of the journey.

Seriously though — incredible guitarist, incredible musician and a great guy.

Now it’s time to either practice… or panic 😅

Finally finished setting up my rehearsal and recording room – at least until new gear finds its way in again 😂
Feels great to have everything ready for writing, recording, and just getting lost in the music.
Nothing beats the vibe of a room filled with guitars, amps, and inspiration. 🎸🔥
