As cycling becomes more popular among younger demographics as a hobby, and more importantly a means of commuting, there comes a need for clothing that both performs and adheres to aesthetic codes.

With a younger consumer in mind, desirable, versatile cycling clothes that walk the line between performance and casual wear are inexistent.

This collection, which is largely influenced by my social group’s ad hoc approach to cycling clothes, explores the symbiosis between wearer, garment and environment. My decision to challenge the norms of modern cycling clothing design aims to captivate a younger, more contemporary audience through a stylistic product offering that’s centred around them and their needs.

As well as dropping traditional cycling silhouettes, this collection also experiments with a unique, unseen blend of historical and modern fabrics. Organic hemps, highly durable yet lightweight bio-synthetics and a range of other organic materials have been utilised, user-friendly sustainability being the main consideration for fabric selection. In addition, colour has been achieved through a collaboration between CP Company and their new ‘SEED’ natural dyeing laboratory. Each look is categorised by a temperature range and a weather condition. The full range features three temperature ranges with a wet & dry look in each.

@cpcompany FW022 campaign.

“Linus, 23 years-old and hailing from Bristol, currently lives in London where in 2019, whilst studying Fashion Sportswear Design at the London College of Fashion, he founded @nike_server, a platform for selling and telling the story behind lesser known models from sportswear brands that could still be acquired at affordable prices.

The website quickly developed a cult-following that further exploded when Linus began taking beautiful, but unwearable, sneaker finds to the Vibram academy to be resoled, creating unusually striking hybrids of athletic uppers and rugged outdoor soles.”

My people - Nike Server has closed its virtual doors…

I’ve stepped in to a new role elsewhere, and wanted to thank everyone who’s engaged with the page over the last 7+ years.

If you told me 7 years ago that the streets would be filled with Sunder, Rift 2, Dolce Max, Superfly, Kukini, Clogposite etc, I wouldn’t have believed you.

I’m humbled to have been a part of bringing the weird and wonderful back into the spotlight, at a time when it was truly needed.

The page will remain as is, a source of inspiration for those that need it.

THANK YOU!

Some of your feeds will have been (rightfully) flooded with the Soulgoods x Nike Homescape Woven this past fortnight - working on this one with my brother @wuyue5 was an honour and a true meeting of knowledge and passion, resulting in one of the best received new Nike silhouettes in a long while. We first crossed paths in 2021 at the Paris @nike_server x Vibram event - a meeting that would later inform an early colour up (see the re-soled ACG Okwahn in slide 5).

Following the Soulgoods Dunk collection and the later Air Ship, Yué called me in early 2024 to say he had a lot more creative freedom with the next shoe. What ensued over the next year or so was hours of phone calls, facetimes and studio sessions bouncing ideas back and forth and reviewing samples.

Blending the tech we love in an original and tasteful way was paramount, think Free, Air Woven, Considered, Footscape, HTM, React etc. There were of course some limitations, the main one being available moulds. The first sample nearly had Presto tooling, which would have been interesting to see, however in the end the Free Trail 5.0 tooling was chosen - an ode to Steve McDonald! For the second and final samples, and after some deliberation on whether or not it was suitable due to its military connotations, this was swapped out for the beefier SFB tooling.

Yué also refined a handful of other details for the final sample; the woven strip became thinner, the lacing and eyelets changed slightly and the neoprene tongue was swapped out for a React style tongue, which is one of my favourite details on the shoe and one that goes over a lot of heads...

Thank you again Yué and @gming for bringing me in, first release July 11th! taken in Paris, France by @linusnutland

1972 Nike Greco - Nike’s first ever signature shoe.

For most of us, Michael Jordan is the name that springs to mind when thinking of signature Nike shoes. After all, the Air Jordan 1 grew to be one of the most recognised silhouettes in the history of footwear and, 12 years after its initial release in 1985, Jordan’s signature line had grown so popular that ‘Jordan Brand’ was launched as an entirely separate business. In more recent times Nike has explored giving signature models to musical and cultural icons such as Nigo and Skepta, as well as athletes like Eliud Kipchoge. But where did it all start? You’d be right to assume that Nike’s first signature shoe was a running shoe, by a runner - but you’d be wrong. Go back over 5 decades and you’ll find that the origins of Nike’s signature models started with someone you’ve never heard of, a Texan wrestler named Wayne Wells.

Born in Abilene, Texas in 1946 and raised in Oklahoma, Wells took up wrestling in junior high and excelled through John Marshall High School under coach Virgil Milliron. At the University of Oklahoma, he became a three-time Big Eight champ (1966–68) at 152 lbs, earned two NCAA All-American honors, and won the 1968 NCAA title. Beyond his college career, he was a two-time national freestyle champion, took silver at the 1969 World Championships, and competed in the 1968 Olympics (placing fourth). Then in 1972, he won gold at the Munich Olympics.

After the Munich Games, a Nike salesman, himself a wrestling coach, invited Wells to meet Phil Knight, at a time when Nike was experimenting with branching into sport-specific gear. Nike worked closely with Wells to design a training shoe suited for “roadwork” (a form of low intensity, long distance running that was popular with wrestlers) and a high-top wrestling model, dubbed the Greco.

This is by far one of the most exciting pairs I’ve ever sourced, as well as the oldest to date. Sitting in the archive for now, although if you’re interested do get in touch! taken in London, United Kingdom by @linusnutland
