Bringing back a shot of me in an evening gown because last night Miss America celebrated its 100th annual competition when @emmabroyles_ Miss Alaska, was crowned! For me, my year of service in the organization was extraordinary (and the scholarship I won paid for my BFA💃🏻) so I’m not going to get into my thoughts about what I feel its future will be (maybe another time🙆🏻‍♀️). I do want to say that one of my fav things about the whole competition is how it teaches you not to doubt yourself even when your every word and movement is being judged with pen moving across the paper in front of you. That judgement is life in a nutshell and it’s hard to navigate. Every click counted. Every rating given. Every job won and lost. Whether you’re in an audition room or in a boardroom, we are judged ALL THE TIME. And pageants are upfront about it. Your platform, abilities, speech, talent, education, influence, potential, where you’re from, physical appearance, etc… It’s all putting a placement over your head — things that keep you back and push you forward and learning how to love it all, know your worth through it all, and plow f🔥cking forward toward your goals despite it all. So Miss America has some major obstacles right now, yes. But goddamn it feels good to celebrate all of the volunteers and titleholders who have kept it alive for a CENTURY🤯 to provide such invaluable lessons and financial resources to empower and inspire 👑👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 taken in Miss America Organization by @linzifenix

Honored to be directing one of the pieces tonight. Thrilled that I don’t have to guilt any of you into going because it’s already sold out!!! Proud of the actors, writer, and production team that made it all happen! Humbled that every single performance that I’ve directed this year has sold out. It’s crazy!!!
