Pope Leo XIV’s Historic Apostolic Visit to France

Pope Leo XIV is making his first apostolic visit to France from 25 to 28 September 2026, marking the first papal visit to the country in 18 years. His four-day journey takes him to Paris, Lourdes and Metz.

In Paris, the Pope was officially welcomed by President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where they discussed France–Holy See relations and major international challenges, including peace, climate change and artificial intelligence.

His programme also includes a visit to UNESCO, Vespers at Notre-Dame Cathedral, meetings with young people, and a large prayer vigil at the Stade de France, attended by around 80,000 young people.

The journey continues in Lourdes, a major Catholic pilgrimage site, before concluding in Metz, where the Pope will focus on Europe, peace, dialogue and unity.

MONTE: A FILM ABOUT A FILM

Produced by Genetic Productions, with Nona Sargsyan as Executive Producer, Monte is a feature film about the life and legacy of Monte Melkonian.

Monte: A Film About a Film is my personal documentary initiated by Genetic Productions that emerged alongside its making. As the only Diaspora Armenian in the crew, I found myself observing the production from a different perspective not simply documenting how a film was made, but exploring my own relationship with Armenia, identity, belonging, and the idea of homeland.

During the process, I also developed a personal friendship with the film’s lead actor, Vladimir Msryan. That relationship gradually became part of my experience of the film, allowing the documentary to move beyond observing a production and into something more intimate and human.

Rather than a traditional behind-the-scenes documentary, the film observes what happens around the filmmaking: the people, the waiting, the conversations, the spaces, and the small moments that exist before the camera rolls and after it stops.

Shot between Yerevan and Beirut, the documentary developed its own visual language, combining digital cinematography with analog still photography.

Monte is scheduled for release in November. Following its release, Monte: A Film About a Film will begin its own journey moving beyond the film it started by documenting and taking on a life of its own.

At its heart, it is a film about friendship, filmmaking, Armenia and the Diaspora a personal story that was born within another film, but gradually became a film of its own. by @lio___m
