I was asked yesterday why is it I enter these runs if the goal isn’t to win. Valid enough question, but not one that I’d ever had to vocalize. After I sat with it a while, something came back to me that I had heard in the past. It’s not that I have to run, I get to run. And I know how nauseating that sounds. I could feel my eyes rolling as I typed it out but it’s the truth. I don’t know if going from the girl who could barely walk a quarter mile all the way down to the girl who would nearly pass out after every run because she hadn’t eaten a meal in 48 hours has anything to do with it but the fact that I get to go out there and run healthy. That’s the why. by @lionkingislove

I promised myself for my 30th birthday that just once this year, I would do something completely for myself, no questions asked, no second guessing, no fear getting in my way. It took a couple of months but I knew this was what I wanted to do as soon as someone sent me the link (because they soo know me). All I can say is I’m so great-full for this weekend and as always thanks again @robintunney for the always present reminder in the back of my brain “the best reason to do something is because you’re afraid” I carry it always.
