A little something from Auckland. Available at Lion’s Bread Clare St from 30th October while the beans last. We visited @eighthirty in New Zealand and brought home a few bags of their Organic Blend. A favourite for its sweet, floral notes, balanced flavour and approach to coffee that feels close to our own values. Good coffee is worth sharing, so we’re putting it on the bar for a little while. Come have a taste. A LITTLE SOMETHING FROM AUCKLAND. A visit to Eighthirty Coffee Roasters, New Zealand. Eighthirty Organic Blend. Now pouring for a limited time at Clare St. from 30th COLOMBIA. Our plain croissant will be available in stores tomorrow! We’ve been testing them for months and are finally happy to serve them - so come taste test and give feedback :) As with everything, always a work in progress. The process of developing our croissant has been pretty lengthy, mainly because we had some self-imposed rules - *all ingredients need to be from South Africa, so no imported French butter, no Italian flour, etc. *no additives (including additional gluten!) *they need to be delicious You might not know it, but majority of croissants out there use imported specialty croissant butter which often has additives like soya lecithin or colorants like carrageneen. They also tend to be made from imported flour which has a higher protein content or is milled specifically for patisserie. Occasionally things like palm fat, vegetable margarine, or extra gluten powder are added to make a structurally and aesthetically sexier croissant. But we’re not really into all that. We like our food as unprocessed and close to the source as possible. If you agree, then these are for you. Needless to say these pastries aren’t your standard croissant. They’re a genuinely South African version of the much-loved pastry, which we’re proud to serve.
