Looking forward to this Sunday the 20th where I will be djing and setting things off at 4pm for this month’s @abeathappening event at @atelier_yaffe!

Going to exclusively be playing vinyl from the Liquid Beat catalog. Additionally, @wyzaker_worldwide will be performing in support of his Liquid Beat release FORMUL8 from earlier this year. Come through, support some local music, and pick up some merch.

@colonel4456 – “Feel It” EP (@liquidbeat Records)
There’s something special about a #ColonelRed record. His voice carries that rare combination of soul, jazz sensibility, and understated cool, and Feel It finds him right in that sweet spot. Released on Liquid Beat Records, this EP is a beautiful meeting of soulful songwriting and forward-thinking production—music rooted in tradition while still sounding completely of the moment.

The original “Feel It” moves with a deep, unhurried groove. Warm bass, subtle percussion, atmospheric textures, and plenty of space create the perfect foundation for Colonel Red’s distinctive vocals. He doesn’t need to oversell the emotion; his phrasing does the work. There’s intimacy in the performance, but enough rhythmic weight to make this one work beautifully in a DJ set.

Then come the remixes, each bringing a different perspective to the track. @tallblackguyproductions adds his signature soulful, sample-minded touch, @hot16.music takes things into a more beat-driven direction, while @djwheelup brings that unmistakable broken-beat and future-soul energy to the equation. Three different approaches, three different grooves, all showing just how much life is contained within the original.

What makes this EP work is the balance, soulful without being overly polished, electronic without losing its humanity, and danceable without sacrificing depth. Another strong release from #LiquidBeatRecords, and a reminder of why Colonel Red remains such a compelling voice at the intersection of soul, jazz, broken beat, and electronic music.

Press play, turn it up, and… Feel It.

Appreciate reviews like this one from @junorecords that dive deeply into the music. Thankful for the kind words, and we couldn’t agree more with the breakdown!

Review:

“Colonel Red is back on Liquid Beat with the kind of record that reminds you why the term “legend” is, just sometimes, not overused at all. [The] ‘Feels iT’ EP has three self-produced originals carrying that unmistakable combination of commanding vocals, poetic lyricism and inventive production that explores radically new rhythms and textures. ‘Feel iT’ is soupy, warped, wonky, sun-baked soul and anchors the EP before Tall Black Guy, WheelUP and HOT16 each pull that title track in distinctly different directions. ‘A Little Bit More’ brings soulful vocals full ache to another patchwork rhythm and ‘Way I’m Livin’’ drips with attitude as if Prince and Moodymann and Jordan Rakei were all jamming on the same joint.”

Colonel Red’s “Feel iT” 12” single is available via our Bandcamp and fine record stores worldwide! Link in bio to purchase or stream 🎶✌🏼
