Well that was a bit exciting wasn’t it ! I barely got any photos because I was too busy waffling on all day to lots of lovely people, but what a lovely time ! I’ve never been involved in an open studios from an artist POV before and wasn’t quite sure what to expect but wow that surpassed all expectations, it was so so good meeting so many people and being able to talk about art / my art / their art / pigeons / the lot , I will never tire of witnessing people interpret my work in their own ways , thank you to everyone who came to visit , it’s such an impressive building with so many talented people inhabiting it and I’m glad you got to enjoy all of it 🖤

Thank you @awolstudiosmcr - @judewainwright_ and David French for organising such a wonderful day, and also for having me in general ! It’s only been a few months but it already feels like home, I can’t wait to open my door again next year

Lily Rose - Studio 03

@liquily is a new resident at AWOL who has been making herself at home over the last couple of months. She is an artist who works primarily in oils, creating figurative paintings in surreal settings and focusing on finding light in the dark and warmth in the solitude. You’ll usually see at least one lonely house, pigeon, or lamppost in her work.

What a fantastic concept being brought to life ! Art on a Postcard in Whitefield , in the most idyllic spot too , what’s more perfect than a standalone brick building , 3 windows 1 door and not to mention a lamp post right next to it like come onnnnn 😮‍💨 @bessesothbarn thank you too for having me !

Anyway Art on a Postcard is on until 3 Sep ! So do check it out, it’s affordable good art and even if you aren’t looking to buy anything , just walking around the space , you have to do so SO many times to notice every piece , I bought myself a seagull painting and my Mum bought a really cool lighthouse piece that I’d missed first time round

All artworks £30 each , with £10 going towards two local art community groups

Hello ! I am settling into the new studio wonderfully ! And if I felt like I couldn’t get painting out of my head before, then idk what this is because now I quite literally can’t stop thinking about it, that and I also keep dreaming about getting pet rats again (for my flat not the studio ofc) so that’s definitely on my radar too (I already have the cage lol)

But yes life is looking settled ! Someone questioned something recently about ‘how to stay consistent’, and I used to get so stressed about this too, I remember my old Tutor saying to me before heading home from uni for the last time: ‘don’t stop.’ And maybe it’s a time thing, but I’ve learnt that if you’ve got some life stuff to take care of, and it takes you away from creating for a while, as long as you pick it up again once you’ve done the bit of life stuff, that’s consistent isn’t it? Like even if you pick up a brush once a month for 2 hours, that’s consistent. So yeah ! Thought of the day , or the month , or the year tbh , consistency could look like anything from once a day to once a year , it doesn’t really matter as long as you don’t stop

Idk where I was going with this but I think I’m just catching up ! I’m not sure what else to mention, the new flat we’ve moved into is lovely, and I’ve also learnt about Gousto this year ??? For someone who is literally incapable of food shopping, this is an absolute delight ! Artwise I’m painting a lot, although I need to stop giving my paintings away hahaha that’s my next hurdle, I have a few more to tick off because I love gifting art , then my New Year’s resolution will be to start trying to keep ahold of a good majority of my work

Oh and final thing ! I’ve come to realise and accept I just love painting houses, and it’s usually the same sort of house every time, and you know what slay ???, I could paint that forever , so that is what I shall do , along with the odd sprinkle of things I like, like birds and bugs (am I stating the obvious here? is this like when you’re mate comes out but you’ve already known for ages so it’s a bit of a flop hahaha)
