Vintage silk ties, rescued from thrift stores. Luscious brocades, satin silks and jacquards. If lucky, early Jerry Garcia’s vivid abstract watercolors. I fashioned each one into a slender pouchette to keep glasses at my fingertips and lenses sparkly clear.

I love the predictable rhythm of sewing them. Each tie is a story I imagine while working. The silks passing through my hands make me swoon.

I’m going through a “precious” phase which has zero to do with my mood. Or where I want my work to go. But she took hours fiddling with a gorgeous 40’s beaded pouch purse, lined in polka dot crepe. So here she is. taken in Mill Valley, California by @lisa.edson

“Cage Free”

I have many people— friends, sisters, medical heroes — to thank for holding me aloft these many months. You know who you are. My heart is grateful beyond measure.
