So, I was driving to teach my art class this morning and this absolute stunner of a song came on the radio. Safe to say I was in tears before I got to work. This has to be some of the most beautiful vocals I have heard in a long time and the arrangement - goes without saying. Hans Zimmer you are and forever will be my musical hero. @jadethirlwall and @hanszimmer I am feeling SO artistically inspired after hearing this, it is heaven to my ears and my heart.
So many ideas for illustrations and stories of sea creatures and the deep, but for now here's a re-post of my whale from a while back. So we don't forget him.
Oh and you'll also find me watching Blue Planet 3 💙 by @lisabdraws

Good afternoon!

This batch of book stones was the most challenging yet! Supplies of my usual stones are becoming hard to come by, so I had to paint on two-inch stones!

I am lucky to have made friends in the writing community with so many talented people who have allowed me to paint their book onto a stone.

Scroll along to see my creations.

Again, I am not an artist or trying to be one…it’s all for fun! The challenge of painting a book cover on a three-inch (now two) stone forces me to concentrate and clears my brain for new ideas to flow.

2026 is the National Year of Reading which is a UK-wide campaign designed to inspire more people to make reading a regular part of their lives, and I hope my fun book stones bring smiles and questions that lead to picking up the book that inspired me to paint the stones.

I love supporting fellow creatives and have tagged the authors and illustrators so you can follow them if you wish; the links to buy their wonderful books are in their bios.

Keep your 👀🍌 for the very special place these books will be displayed.

Love and kindness,

J.M.

So cute!
I thought I would share one of my favourite spreads from Can-Do Kangaroo!
It was pure joy to create and one of my favourite parts was the challenge of making little Kooboo look as cute as possible, all cosy and warm inside his Mummy's pouch. So comfy in fact, that he doesn't want to come out!
You can find out why and what happens next in Can-Do Kangaroo written by @h.j.peckham and illustrated by me (obviously 😂) which is available wherever books are sold, now!

"A Forest Of Stars"
Originally intended to be part of a picture book I've been working on for years, I decided to turn the tiny storyboard thumbnail into a huge paint and ink piece that was so big it needed to be scanned in 6 parts! (It's not that big, just a little metre or so 🤭) It's so great to see it digitally saved forever so I can share it with everyone here.

Recently exhibited at @artcoregallery and at the @take_aim_derby exhibition and now part of the @bradfordlitagency fall art blast.

Here's part 2!
What better day to reveal the finished scooter than the first day of the Scootathon!
I'm so pleased with how it's turned out. I hope that I have managed to capture the essence of @samssuperheroesfoundation whilst honouring Sam.
I wish all of the riders a fabulous scoot over the next 55 miles.
See you at the finish line!

Sam's superheroes is a charity committed to raising money for Norse and Fires research.

It's not pimp my ride it's PIMP MY SCOOTER!
I am honoured to have been asked by @samssuperheroesfoundation to give their scooter a new lease of life ready for Sam's Scootathon, a big scoot from Birmingham to Derby. 55 miles in 2 days all in aid of UK FIRES research and in memory of Sam starting on the 19th September. This scooter will be used by various people along the route to support the team in tackling the challenge. A VIP scooter if you will! I can't wait to show you all the design I have created! Here's the all important prep. Stay tuned for part 2!

Kooboo the joey is growing fast , but he's in no hurry to leave the safety and comfort of his mum's pouch and face the big wide world outside !

A beautiful, rhyming story full of encouragement and friendship and how we can't achieve things if we don't first try . Also that failure is a part of learning and that's ok!

We really enjoyed this one and it's been a favourite at bedtime since it arrived . The illustrations are so adorable and Wilf said the characters look so cuddly and friendly ! taken in Newquay, Cornwall England by @lisabdraws

Happy book birthday @h.j.peckham !
If you didn't know already (and if you don't, where on earth have you been?!) Hannah and I have birthed a book and it's official day of birth is today!
I feel so privileged to have been asked to illustrate Hannah's wonderful words and help bring little Kooboo to life. So thank you Hannah and @award.books for having me on this special journey 🧡 by @lisabdraws

Kids review Can-Do Kangaroo!
These were meant to be out takes that were destined for the bin but, as I edited them together it appeared this moment was too good not to share!
I think these two should have their own book review page 😂
Can-Do Kangaroo! receives a solid million out of 10 from these guys! Make sure to leave your reviews on Amazon, Waterstones and Goodreads.
