Thanks to my home state of CA for giving adult sexual abuse victims more time to file claims. This is such an important new law.

I appeared on the Australian Today Show about the gut wrenching Lindsay Clancy case recently.

I would have found her Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity, alongside the eleven jurors who wanted that verdict. One juror held out, which resulted in a mistrial.

Should she be retried? Prosecutors are weighing that decision now.

Gloria Steinem fought for women’s rights at a time when this was a radical idea. I had the pleasure of knowing her and she so kindly encouraged my work. Truly an American hero. In these pictures you can see me totally fan girling her.
I remember at an event for her 80th birthday, a young woman raised her hand and said, “Gloria I’m concerned that some girls don’t even know who you are.” In typical Gloria fashion she said “it doesn’t matter if they know who I am. What’s important is that they know who they are.”
Even her birthdays were fundraisers for women’s rights organizations. Every minute of every day of her entire life was devoted to advancing women’s rights. she didn’t marry for many many years because she said “I can’t mate in captivity.“ Then in her 60s, she married an animal rights activist.
All of us who have had careers, who have had choices about how to live our lives, owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to her lifetime of work on our behalf.
RIP, to the brave, bold, brilliant, glorious Steinem. We honor her legacy by continuing the work and allowing every girl and woman to be a full human being with every choice available to her. by @lisabloomesq

OK, it was nine days but that’s close to a week. Each of these was challenging in its own way. Mount Tallac, the tallest mountain in the mighty Sierras ringing Lake Tahoe, has called to me for years, but there’s only a narrow window in the summer when it’s doable without snow. Finally I summited that massive mountain yesterday! It was the most difficult of the gang due to endless loose rock on the trail — the descent was more bone rattling than the climb.
But did we die? Of course not. We were blessed with knockout views of Lake Tahoe, Fallen Leaf Lake and the Desolation Wilderness, wow oh wow I am so glad I have working eyeballs. If you aren’t dazzled by that scenery you’ve lost all capacity for joy in this life.
Rose Knob in north Tahoe was the easiest, after the initial half hour climb you are rewarded with a cruisey ridge walk with a panorama of Tahoe and Reno, and I love me some views that make my head swivel around so much I trip on tree roots. Note to God for next human update: eyes that can look up and down at the same time, please.

I knew a few remote places in Nevada had legal brothels, but had no idea that right in the middle of a medium sized town - Elko, gateway to the stunning Ruby Mountains - at least three were going gangbusters.

Whatever consenting adults want to do is none of my damn business and certainly no one should be arrested or tangled up in the criminal justice system for adult consensual choices. The fact that prostitution has been legal here for 150 years should serve as a model for the rest of the country. If you don’t like prostitution, don’t patronize them, but let’s protect sex workers by legalizing, regulating and protecting their rights.

My dog Vida and I just thru hiked the Ruby Crest Trail! I had hoped to complete my final 300 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail this summer, but wildfires in Washington prevented me from doing it. So like a good backpacker, I had to adapt and come up with an alternative. When I learned that the #Ruby CrestTrail was not on fire, was beautiful, and allowed dogs, I decided to do it.

A symphony for the eyes every moment of every day. What a trail! Wow!
Vida and I completed all 175 miles of the Tahoe Rim Trail. I’ve spent a lot of time in Lake Tahoe, but most of this trail is so remote that it was new to me and it took us past the most spectacular vistas.
God bless the people who devised this trail, and who maintain it so beautifully.
