Samadhi Retreat - the ultimate spa & wellness retreat in Victoria.

Just ten minutes out of Daylesford, in an unassuming little town called Glenlyon is @samadhiretreat , a retreat which offers a range of bespoke wellness and treatment packages. Autumn is a particularly magical time to visit, there is a distinct chill in the air and the gardens reveal a kaleidoscope of warm tonal colours in the autumn leaves. The transition from autumn to winter shows us just how beautiful it is to let things go and the importance of growth and rejuvenation. Two things I am really working on at the moment in my self care journey.

Upon arrival I am enthusiastically greeted by Annah the owner and within minutes we feel like kindred spirits. Since discovering this piece of paradise 20 years ago Annah and her partner Wayne have built the retreat from the ground up - starting with the gorgeous flora and fauna. We wander around the gardens, feed the resident alpacas and pick some vegetables from the veggie garden. There is a beautiful serene energy about the place which really needs to be experienced to be believed.

Unlike some other retreats they do things a bit differently here. It’s definitely not a retreat ‘bootcamp’ each package is bespoke. It’s all about holistic healing and an integrated approach to wholeness’ through the cultivation of rest, relaxation and body and mind. Samadhi recognises the importance of healing from the inside out. There are a range of healing modalities on offer including: detoxing therapies, nutritional advice, exercise, counselling, lifestyle consultation, meditation and self-awareness skills using traditional and modern techniques.

For people with limited time there are also treatments on offer. I was lucky enough to be treated to their signature facial which is so much more than your average facial. It cleverly weaves ancient wisdom with organic essences and mineral and sound therapy. I had quite a toxic acne break out at the time and Annah talked me through a range of vitamins and minerals which would help as well as lifestyle choices to help with my healing journey. I came away fresh faced balanced and nurtured. taken in Samadhi Retreat by @lisaeatworld

Opposite the bustle of Queen Victoria Market, Patsy’s offers a quieter kind of Melbourne pleasure. A lovingly restored little building, a beautiful, intimate dining room and the homely touches that make you feel right at home upon entering.

The inspiration comes from the wine bars of the Mediterranean, but the menu has its roots in Victorian soil. Much of the produce is grown on the team’s farm in the Central Highlands, with the seasons guiding what arrives on the plate. Vegetables are the hero here which are celebrated in all their glory as a main event rather than a forgotten about side The menu wanders through handmade pasta, savoury crêpes, bubbling polenta gratin and carefully considered vegetable dishes.

A little Mediterranean spirit, very much at home in Melbourne. I can’t wait to go back for more. Thanks to my beautiful friend @hilarymcnevin for the lunch date #.

A secret garden on the Mornington Peninsula that feels straight out of a fairytale 🌿

Hello @diggersheronswood one of my favourite places on the peninsula. You can have coffee and scones in the old stone house, buy some plants or seeds in the nursery, enjoy a picnic or get lost in its rambling gardens.

I love this side of the Peninsula. Beyond the beaches, there are places like this — full of character, greenery and inspiration for the garden I’m forever dreaming of at home.

One to visit with your garden-loving friend, with plenty of time to stop and take it all in.

📍 Heronswood, Mornington Peninsula

Save this for your next Peninsula day out, or send it to someone who’d love a wander here.

Lemon, Olive Oil & Thyme Yoghurt Loaf 🍋🍋

I’ve been a bit slack with the recipe posts lately! I’ve been baking and recipe testing behind the scenes but haven’t had a chance to photograph and video with the mum juggle. Our lemon trees were to abundant this season so we have made a lot of lemon cakes and slices. This lemon loaf is one of my faves - it’s super zesty and the olive oil and yoghurt make it super moist. I also have a refined sugar free version - if you would like that please just dm me and I will send it over.

Serves 8–10

Ingredients

Loaf

* ¾ cup caster sugar
* Finely grated zest of 2 lemons
* 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves, finely chopped
* ½ cup mild extra-virgin olive oil
* 2 large eggs
* ¾ cup thick Greek yoghurt
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1¾ cups plain flour
* 2 tsp baking powder
* ¼ tsp fine sea salt

Lemon syrup

* ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
* ¼ cup caster sugar
*
Lemon glaze (optional)

* ¾ cup icing sugar, sifted
* 1½–2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
* Extra lemon zest and fresh thyme leaves, to serve

Method

1. Preheat oven to 175°C conventional (155°C fan-forced). Grease a 23 × 13 cm loaf tin and line with baking paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, lemon zest, thyme, olive oil, eggs, yoghurt and vanilla until smooth.
3. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into the bowl. Gently fold until just combined, then spoon into the tin and smooth the top.
4. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Loosely cover with foil if the top browns too quickly.
5. Towards the end of baking, gently heat the lemon juice and sugar in a small saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Poke holes in the warm loaf with a skewer and slowly spoon the syrup over the top.
6. Leave in the tin for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
7. If using the glaze, mix the icing sugar with enough lemon juice to make a thick, pourable icing. Drizzle over the cooled loaf and finish with lemon zest and fresh thyme. by @lisaeatworld

Ahhh take me back to @harveysfarmbicheno

There’s a lot from our stay at Harveys Farm, Bicheno, that I wish I could hold onto a little longer. Early sunrises and coffee with an ocean view. Wandering down to the beach, collecting shells and stopping to spot wildlife with the boys. Countless games of backyard cricket and footy. Another round of cards around the table, then a night by the fire pit toasting marshmallows and making s’’mores with the fam. It really is the most special place.

With its sweeping coastal views and beautiful spaces to gather, this seaside home on Tasmania’s east coast is so beautiful, the photos don’t even do it justice . But it’s those little moments together I keep coming back to.. The older I get, the more I realise how much they matter. Everyone there, nowhere else we needed to be… a holiday comes and goes but these memories and stories will stay forever - i will try to bottle these moments as long as I can.

Until next time Bicheno 🌊🦀

When in Hobart over the holidays we discovered the cutest little cafe @leoht__batterypoint in Battery Point.

Set inside a Georgian cottage, the café and restaurant has the most dreamy interiors - raw timber, textured fabrics and natural light, with enough of the old building still present to give it plenty of character. There’s a cosy fireplace for chilly days, an alfresco terrace for watching the neighbourhood go about its business and a courtyard out the back when the weather gods oblige.

Tasmania’s growers and producers guide the seasonal menu, with specialty coffee for the morning and local cool-climate wines when lunch stretches a little longer.
The changing dinner menu has featured olive oil flatbread with goat’s curd and dill gremolata, and a tomato-and-saffron brodetto with mussels, fish and calamari. The wine list makes room for organic and low-intervention producers, with rotating pours by the glass offering an easy way to try something a bit unfamiliar.

And order the buckwheat pancakes for breaky they were so good! taken in Battery Point by @lisaeatworld

Some snaps from my camera roll from Bruny Island, such a beautiful day trip by ferry from Hobart.

Here are my top 10 things to do while on the island…

🦪 1. Order oysters at Get Shucked
Freshly shucked oysters, a squeeze of lemon and views across Great Bay. We loved our visit here

🧀 2. Settle in at Bruny Island Cheese & Beer Co.
Order a cheese platter, find a seat beneath the eucalypts and leave room in your bag for something to take home.

🍞 3. Find the Bruny Baker bread fridge
A roadside fridge filled with wood-fired bread and an honesty system. Bring cash and hope there’s still a loaf waiting.

🌊 4. Climb to The Neck lookout
For that beautiful view of the narrow strip of land connecting North and South Bruny, with water stretching out on either side.

🍯 5. Stop at Bruny Island Honey
Taste your way through the different varieties and pick up a jar for your breakfast toast. The boys loved the honey ice cream here

👣 6. Walk towards Cape Queen Elizabeth
A coastal walk with bushland, dunes and sweeping beach views. If you’re heading to the rock arch, plan around the tides.

🏖️ 7. Spend some time at Adventure Bay
Take a beach walk, unpack your picnic supplies and give yourself a little time to do very little.

⛵ 8. See the coastline with Bruny Island Cruises
For towering sea cliffs, sea caves and the chance to spot seals and dolphins from the water.

💨 9. Head south to Cape Bruny Lighthouse
Worth the drive for the rugged coastal scenery alone. Book a lighthouse tour if you’d like to step inside.

🐚 10. Walk along Cloudy Bay
A long stretch of sand, rolling surf and a wonderfully wild end to the island.

You’ll want more than a day to enjoy everything on this list—especially if you’re adding a longer walk or cruise.
Save this for your Tasmania trip and send it to your favourite travel buddy.

Tasmania sure knows where to put a seafood shack. 🦞

On the edge of the Gulch, Bicheno’s natural harbour, The Lobster Shack is a must visit when on Tassie’s east coast. True to its name - lobster leads the proceedings: served natural, with garlic butter, as mornay or tucked into a roll with chips.

Beyond the namesake, there are oysters served natural or Kilpatrick, crumbed scallops, seafood chowder and abalone in garlic butter. Fish and chips keeps things classic; a seafood platter gives the table something to gather around.

Settle in on the deck overlooking the water and watch the world go by. We spotted some seals on our visit, such a special spot!

Bruny Island is an easy place to build a day around food and is such an easy day trip from Hobart. A loaf of wood-fired bread collected from a roadside fridge. Oysters freshly shucked at Great Bay. Local cheese to take home, if it survives the drive (ours definitely didn’t!). Make sure to leave time for the island itself: the wild life, the coastline, the bush tracks and the gorgeous views

These are some of our favourite spots :

🍞 @thebrunybaker — On the corner of Sheepwash Road, vintage fridges serve as a shopfront for wood-fired bread. Choose a loaf and pay through the honesty system.

🦪 @get_shucked_oysters_ — At Great Bay, the distance between oyster farm and plate is as short as it gets. Settle in at the oyster bar for freshly shucked oysters served natural with lemon, or try the cooked options.

🧀 @brunyislandcheese — A tasting here deserves a place in the itinerary. Explore the different cheeses, order a platter and settle in beneath the eucalypts, with bread and a beer brewed on sites

🍯 Bruny Island Honey — The tasting roo
 offers a chance to discover just how different one honey can be from another, from leatherwood to prickly box. Watch the bees in the observation hive, pick out a jar for home and leave room for a leatherwood honey ice cream. There is also a playground for the kids!

🌊 The Neck — Between the island’s north and south, a stepped boardwalk climbs to one of Bruny’s most recognisable views. From above, the narrow strip of land stretches between sheltered water and the open sea. Worth pausing here for a while, beyond the photograph.

🌿 Grass Point — Starting at Adventure Bay, this relatively easy coastal track takes around 90 minutes return. Follow the shoreline through bush and open grassland, past remnants of an old whaling station, with views towards Penguin Island.

Save this for your next Tasmania trip.
