I’ve reached the part of the first draft process where I can’t actually go to bed because my head has become a sorting hat and keeps throwing out problems that need fixing. So I sit down at 11pm to “just do half an hour” and now it’s a different day 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🐻🐻🐻🐻 by @lisahowells

BOOK REVIEW 📕
Wolf Point by Lisa Howells

I really liked this debut thriller set in Alaska. When police officer Terril Black becomes sergeant, her first case involves a missing teenager. The young woman was last seen working the night shift at the Comfort motel and no one has seen her since.

It’s winter in Alaska, and no one can last long outdoors in the cold amongst wolves and bears. This creates a sense of urgency in the small town community and its three person police force.

This was an atmospheric and suspenseful read described by the author as a “feminist crime novel.” I highly recommend it and look forward to the next book in the series, Bear Bay.

Pub day is December 1, 2026.

Thriller ARC Review

Thank you to @grandcentralpub for the gifted copy.

Wolf Point by Lisa Howells
Pub Date - 12/1

The story takes place in Wolf Point, Alaska and let me just tell you, this was such an atmospheric read. Snowy mountains with an isolated setting locked me right in! So much so, that I had to grab a cup of hot chocolate while reading.

Terri Black is appointed sergeant after her boss has a terrible accident. Right off the bat, her eighteen-year-old goddaughter turns up missing.

She will stop at nothing to find the girl. A new rookie shows up to help and they are on the hunt. Only thing is, others have gone missing too.

Terril was such a fascinating character. She was beautifully flawed and felt completely human to me. Everyone else is a suspect and I just couldn’t put this book down.

Part police procedural and part thriller. This is the perfect read for the winter season and releases 12/1. I loved it and hope you will too. I’m hoping for a series and can’t wait for the next installment!

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⁉️QOTD- What setting do you enjoy the most in books? Mine is definitely an isolated snowed-in setting.
