First of fall, (3!!) + kid free trips on film

It’s been a busy few months with a solo trip to Forks (we all know what this was about ! 🧛🏻‍♀️) and an artist workshop on a tiny island off the coast of Massachusetts. Rounded it out celebrating our birthdays with a few days away with @stevenmarkham.

Lots of time to reflect and set intentions for the year. I do this in the fall, feels like a natural time to reset.

If you frequent University Village in Seattle you’re probably familiar with the masterful way they enhance the beauty of every season through landscaping and ornamental design/lighting.

They keep the twinkle lights on the trees through early spring so a night where the sunset looks like this in late January will stop you in your tracks- even if you’re late for daycare pickup 😬

highlights here included the subtle difference between the warm light from the shops and trees v the harsh white light from the street lamps- with the neon green saturated mid tones.

A diptych to round out my goal to use/reuse surfaces I had in studio before buying new ones.

This is “farm to table”
Based on two references, one of an Iceland poppy growing in my parking strip garden and one of a cluster of small bouquets on my table before they made it home to the people I’d gift them to.

I had a different idea for this reel but no one told me a lip sync plus transition is essentially brain surgery. 🤡

This painting is about more than just slowing down for me. It’s also about refusing to give up what matters even under pressure, and maintaining curiosity when we are incentivized to outsource our wonder and grappling.
