What a privilege it was to perform a work by Crystal Pite made especially for the $20Commissions Project! Actually, so surprised was I that Crystal responded to my invitation, when I received a late night text message from her asking for an alternate email address I thought it was some elaborate scam! Ha! As a mature performer it sometimes feels like it might be easier to take on a more behind the scenes role in dance, but I’m sure glad I stuck it out for this one! Thanks for your generosity and care Crystal!

Back in pandemic times I invited choreographers from around the globe to make a dance work for me to perform that they estimated to be worth $20AUD. Then out of all the works I received I made a show about money and the arts. Here’s a work by @companyphilipconnaughton

TAKE THE WHEEL WORKSHOPS JUNE 2026

FIND YOUR GROOVE
An improvisational dance workshop process led by choreographer and dancer Lisa Maris McDonnell. Participants created maps/pictures which they then explored through solo movement, and group movement exercises. Improvisation to music, trusting creative instincts, body confidence and movement as storytelling were some of the many skills developed through this workshop.

A project partnership between @thedisabilitytrust , @tdtsportandrec , @merrigongtheatreco and @thestrangewaysensemble
Supported by @creatensw Cultural Access funding by @lisamarismcdonell

Well I Asked For It and I got it!
Received some great live and written feedback on my show, but my favourite piece of feedback was “You should’ve screamed and shouted and scared the audience “. Watch out to those who come if it gets another outing!!!
Thanks to @merrigongtheatreco and MerrigongX for the support and to those who came and provided their feedback!

Asking For It is a collaboration with the audience. it is a show in perpetual development.

Via live, emailed and written feedback, audiences ask for what they want from a show, and receive it - or not.

Taking to extreme levels the idea of of audience engagement, Asking For It navigates layers of consent while looking at notions of care, power and control within the audience / artist relationship.

Deep, Eternal Hum from Proper Motion’s 4inPLAY season. Currently a 15 minute solo but hoping to develop an entire show around it. Inspired by the deep, eternal hum of our ancestors. Looking forward to getting back into the studio with it. Thanks to @linda_luna_luke @hannahhbrookes and @jacktuc for sharing the program and to @martinfox311 for the videography. by @lisamarismcdonell

2025 gone in the blink of an eye! Too many fab moments to capture here and I’m notoriously bad at remembering to take photos of the special moments. But a reasonable selection of them here. Happy New Year to all!!!! by @lisamarismcdonell
