Aging is a privilege—and at 49, my focus isn’t perfection, it’s healthy, supported skin ✨

Over the years, I’ve learned that consistency always wins. These are a few of my non-negotiables that truly make a difference for me:

Post 4 of 4: Collaboration & A Successful Treatment Plan for Delayed-Onset Nodules from an Autoimmune Response to HA Filler

This case was shared to show that while hyaluronic acid injectable treatments are carefully planned, unexpected reactions can occasionally occur — and what matters most is how they’re handled.

If you’re a provider, save this series. Delayed-onset nodules can be nuanced, and early recognition — along with having this plan in your toolkit — may help if you encounter a similar presentation.

Post 3 of 4: When Things Took An Unexpected Turn 
What initially seemed to be resolving returned weeks later - larger and more noticeable. That’s when I began to suspect delayed-onset nodules (DONs): an immune-mediated inflammatory response that can occur weeks to months after HA filler.

While uncommon and typically manageable, DONs can be unpredictable, especially in patients with underlying autoimmune conditions.
 Although I felt reassured that I understood what was happening, I knew this situation required thoughtful care, close follow-up, and collaboration with expert colleagues to ensure the best possible outcome. 💉🤍

As an aesthetic nurse practitioner, my job isn’t just to treat wrinkles—it’s to understand why your skin is aging the way it is.

One thing many patients don’t realize:
➡️ Women lose up to 30% of their collagen within the first 5 years of menopause.

Collagen is the scaffolding of your skin. It’s what gives firmness, thickness, elasticity, and that “bounce.”
When estrogen drops, collagen production drops with it.

So what does that mean for aesthetics?

✨ Skin gets thinner
✨ Laxity shows up faster
✨ Volume loss becomes harder to correct
✨ Treatments that rely on collagen stimulation may not respond as well

This is why I care so much about hormone health—sometimes even more than your gynecologist might in the context of skin aging.

If your body isn’t producing collagen, some of the treatments we do (biostimulators, lasers, tightening devices) may have limited results unless we address what’s happening internally too.

This understanding of what happens as we age helps me set realistic expectations with my patients
