Today our world lost a beautiful, talented, kind, loyal, spunky sweet gal. Heaven gained a true angel. Finality of life is difficult to grasp especially when it comes early. Jules was 22 years old and her departure has left many with a very deep, painful sadness but memories of her can only bring a smile.
Dear Jules, Thank you for all the light you brought to those who knew you. Thank you for being a true friend to Benjamin and always being there for Victoria. Thank you for showing up to support me (and our family) when I spoke at Elon.
Thank you God for the precious 22 years of Jules and may she have an eternity of peace and complete happiness.
Sweet Jules, as you wrote in the song you were working on before you left us “I wish I could be with you in October.” All that knew you wish the same. Until we meet again, rest well sweet Angel. 🕊️ by @lisarwhetstone

11:41 am August 2, 2023 makes one very special day! My niece/goddaughter Ashlie Michelle gave birth to the most beautiful, precious little angel!

Meet Marigold Amelia Durkin.
Those of you who knew my Mother-in-law Mary or Mar Mar (Ashlie’s grandmother) know what an important and meaningful role she played in her grandchildren’s lives. The Mari of Marigold is in honor of Mary. Amelia (Amy) is Devlin’s mother’s name. Her nickname, given to her by one of her uncles, is “Goldie.”

She is 21.5 inches long and 8 pounds 13 ounces of pure perfection! We are so thrilled to have this precious baby girl in our family. Much love and wishing abundant blessings to Ashlie, Devlin and Marigold! 💗 Perfect little Angel! 👼 by @lisarwhetstone

It’s with a heavy heart but in abundant faith that I post this tribute in honor of Ben Ferguson. Ben is the son of our dear friends Brian & Teri Ferguson. Ben was an incredible man of faith & the senior pastor of The Mission Chattanooga Parish in Chattanooga, TN. Ben started the church from nothing & grew it to a congregation which averages over 500 attendees for Sunday worship.

During his funeral, the pastor shared a story about a meeting with a number of the clergy. During the meeting, they went around stating which apostle each seemed most like. When they reached Ben, all unanimously agreed that he was most like Jesus. What an AMAZING example he must have been. The pastor also stated that Ben was brilliant… a quality he undoubtedly received from his Father Brian who Mark & I have always stated is one of the most intelligent people we know. The pastor also referred to Ben as kind, selfless & giving. All qualities that his beautiful Mother Teri exudes.

I pray that Ben’s life is an example of what we all strive to be. I also pray that each of you will listen to your body. If you suspect something may not be quite right, please see a trusted physician. Sadly, Ben was only 40 years old when he left us. He fought bravely for over 1 1/2 years with colon cancer.

If you have a family history of any medical condition, please be especially vigilant. If Ben’s story can help bring attention & awareness to the importance of early detection & save even one person, I know he would be grateful that his situation brought light, life & positivity to others.

Heaven gained one of the best. However, his mother Teri, father Brian, wife Mary, his precious two little girls (Amelie & Lucy) brother Eric, sister-in-law Nicole, nephews (Evan & Danny) as well as extended family, friends & his church family will miss him dearly.

Towards the end of the service, the pastor stated if Ben were standing in front of everyone, he would say…”Do you know Jesus?” Ben’s life was devoted to Christ & service to his congregation & to those in need. Those who love Ben are confident he is comfortably & joyfully with Christ. Rest well Pastor Ben. You will never be forgotten ❤️ taken in Chattanooga, Tennessee by @lisarwhetstone

It is with a heavy heart that I make this post in honor of my beautiful Mother-in-Law who earned her heavenly angel wings at 4:01 am this morning. Many of you know she suffered a major stroke in February & it has been a roller coaster since then.

To know Mary Whetstone (adoringly called Mar Mar) was to love her. I have never known anyone who loved as large & as unconditionally as she did. Nothing made her happier than her family. Nothing… If you were someone special to our family, you were special to her. So for all of you who knew her, she loved you and I mean that sincerely. She always asked about our friends, our children’s friends & anyone who was special in our lives. If your reading this, that more than likely includes you. 💗 thank you for enriching her life and ours.

Mar Mar had a time pronouncing certain words & names…which made her who she was & bless her as we loved teasing her. Please feel honored if you received a special nickname or a cute pronunciation of your name as that was our Mar Mar. Her cute quirkiness & well known infamizums we will always remember & cherish.

She was like a second Mother to me as I was blessed to have known her since I was 17. I thank her for her incredible heart & abundant love, AMAZING meals (ALWAYS making everyone their favorite dessert for the holidays-yes, food was her love language), her unique insight, being my shopping buddy (when she was still able to), laughing & having fun playing cards, watching her favorite game shows, her unconditional love for her family, being the most incredible grandmother to her 5 grandchildren, being an amazing Mother to Mark & Dee Dee, her positive words…she always said “just love one another & be happy”. Wise words for us all to remember.

There is such a “hole in the world tonight” for our family. Our bright light has dimmed but as Victoria beautifully pointed out that “it was dark when we left the hospital but when we arrived home the sun was rising, the sky was beautiful & so many birds were singing”. Benjamin so accurately stated “her body had become a prison & she was being kept in solitary confinement. Now she has broke free & is whole again”.
